I see. I personally don't see the point in making more Star Wars films. The ones we already have pretty much give a conclusive and satisfying story. If it's about making film versions based off the expanded universe, then I don't know what to say then. _________________

Yeah, I kinda laughed at the reaction to this when I heard too. Being acquired by Disney didn't ruin Marvel.
Considering the prequel films were admittedly rather flawed, I think a new direction might actually be the best thing for the franchise too. _________________

Heh. Considering how much there is already, that's hard to imagine.
They probably will find a way though. _________________

That's pretty much my opinion. But if Disney make a new SW movie, I won't mind watching it. It's not like George Lucas is going to fiddle with it anymore. More Star Wars is nice, as long as its not the _________________

Huh, that's intriguing. Everyone seems to think it will be based on the Thrawn trilogy. It's the most detailed and canonical of all the Star Wars EU stuff. It makes sense, considering its set way after the fall of the first Empire. But if this a truly original trilogy, this may be a better direction as they can pick and choose which is canonical or not thus selecting the best from each EU and throwing away the worst of it. _________________

LucasFilm has been fairly careful about reconciling the films with the official Expanded Universe, far more so than is the case with Star Trek and Doctor Who (in the case of Doctor Who the writers are even encouraged to ignore canon due to the nature of the stories). However, I tend to image George Lucas trying to write a script, first for the prequels then the sequels, going through every single Expanded Universe story and saying, "Fuck! Can't use that idea!" No, that's ridiculous and the writer would be justified in ignoring the Expanded Universe to any degree. It would be impressive if a minimal amount is ignored and the story still holds together, but I don't expect that. _________________

Ignoring EU and making their own canon is the most reasonable option, I was just saying that most SW fans expected to be based on some EU stuff. I'm alright with the EU being ignored or declared null and void, better for the writers to find something for everyone to enjoy rather than a nerd wankfest. _________________
