I saw the pilot for this program. When I first saw the screen shots I had little hope for Green Lantern: The Animated Series, but upon watching it I changed my mind. It does have Bruce Timm working as a producer after all.
The plot so far is that US air force test pilot Hal Jordan is leading a double life as a Green Lantern, a galaxy-wide superpowered police force that use mysterious rings to manipulate green energy into any shape through extreme willpower (energy shields, giant hands, swords...). A recent recruit, Hal is still learning how to be a Green Lantern and being Earth's protector, and is recalled to the planet Oa by his superiors, the Guardians of the Universe, for an investigation into the killing of several Green Lanterns. Hal and fellow Green Lantern Killowog discover that the killers are the violent new "Red Lantern Corps", who have all the same powers as the Green Lantern Corps but fueled by rage instead of willpower. Hal and Killowog have to fight across the galaxy to return to Oa, and the Red Lanterns will be hounding them every step of the way.
Green Lantern: The Animated Series looks like it will be an excellent introduction to the Green Lantern Mythos, just as Batman: The Animated Series and Superman: The Animated Series were. While the odd animation might be off-putting to some, the writing makes up for it. I hope this does well, and I really hope that Patton Oswalt gets a guest role in this considering he is such a Green Lantern fan. _________________

I'm not really a big super hero fan, but I guess I can give this series a try. _________________

It would be much easier than looking at the comics. That mythology is so convoluted that it would take years.

It's really more of a Star Wars type story with this show so far. I doubt much time will be spent on Earth. _________________

Ah, I never did get around to watching this... Might have to consider still giving it a look at some point, as I'm still not very familiar with the Green Lantern side of DC's stuff even after actively reading the comics for coming on a now.
That's interesting though. Guy is actually one of the Lanterns I'm more familiar with, given he's actually in one of the comics I've been picking up regularly. _________________

Yes, which why I mentioned Guy. I don't know if he had been animated before, so I'm looking forward to seeing him.
The Green Lantern Mythos is interesting if you want space opera mixed with superhero. Often, the space opera elements overshadow the superhero side unless the Green Lanterns are working with Superman, Batman, or any other heroes. _________________
