"Ouch." Hinata Hyuga winced in agony as the heel of her palm momentarily connected with the tree in front of her. Stepping back to observe the damage done to the tree's bark, she sighed gently.
Not a single scratch marked the trunk of the great oak in front of her.
She was glad, of course, as she didn't want to purposefully destroy the forest she was currently training in, but she did wish that she had something to show for her five straight hours of hard work.
Tilting her head up to look at the mottled light of the sun streaming through the leaves above her, she breathed out slowly causing the two long, dark locks of hair framing either side of her pale face to flutter slightly.
"If Neji were here right now he would scold me for not focusing completely on the jutsu I was trying to perform. His Gentle Fist technique far surpasses mine and I'm sure he would say that his skills are due to an intense level of concentration. One that I seem to lack." Hinata thought to herself sadly as she absently rubbed the heel of her palm and turned to lean with her back against the tree that she had just assulted.
"I want to become strong enough to show the others that I'm not a scared, cowardly little girl any more. I want Naruto to notice me. To notice how much I'm grown up. I wish more than anything for him to be proud of my progress."
Sliding gently down the base of the tree until she hit the mossy, damp floor of the forest she sighed once again before leaning her head back against the base of the tree to rest.
