My second Touhou fanfic, and a more serious one... slightly.

Perfect Cherry Blossom is an installment of the Touhou Project's Windows Series, and this fanfic will be my own retelling of it.

Basic premise of Touhou takes place in Gensokyo(幻想郷), a mystical land that exists alongside our world in a state invisible to normal humans. Gensokyo use to be a more chaotic place, with youkai attacking humans on a daily basis. But thanks to the creation of the Danmaku Games, Gensokyo became a more orderly place, where its resident humans co-existing with youkai, fairies, and etc. in peace. However, events that only be describe as "incidents" tend to appear across Gensokyo. It's the duty of the Shrine Maiden of Paradise to resolve these incidents.

The story of Perfect Cherry Blossom revolves around a winter that seems to have no end. It's already May, and spring still hasn't arrived to Gensokyo. Food supplies are running out, the temperature is decreasing, and the snowstorms are continually getting worse. Fed up with it all, Reimu Hakurei wants to find the source of this unusual weather. Joining her are her friends, Marisa and Sakuya, as they set out to bring spring back to Gensokyo.

My fanfic will be follow the general story, but there will be some changes. Main example is that in the game, you choose which of the three heroines to play as you play through the game in their own scenario. In my fanfic, all three heroines will be together on their journey. I also intend to have the action scenes play out more similar to the fighting games, so that there's more variety and creativity to the fight scenes instead of just shooting projectiles and dodging.

Characters

Reimu Hakurei (博麗霊夢), the Shrine Maiden of Paradise whose duty is to keep order and resolve any incidents that occur in Gensokyo. A good person at heart, but her view of the world is a bit askew. Brutally honest and cool-headed. Very gifted but incredibly lazy. She's sick n' tired of the cold winter and intends to put a stop to it.

Marisa Kirisame (霧雨魔理沙), a human witch and best friend of Reimu who usually tags along with her on their adventures. Hard-working and self-confident, straightforward and troublesome. Likes to stick her nose in anybody's business. She spotted a cherry blossom petal flowing by outside and decides to follow it.

Sakuya Izayoi (十六夜咲夜), a human woman of unknown origin who was taken in by the vampire Remilia Scarlet. Since then she has lived in the Scarlet Devil Mansion as the chief-maid. Stoic but well-mannered. Very loyal to her mistress. Realizing that the mansion's food-supply is diminishing, she sets out to solve the mystery behind the long winter before they run out.

Okay. I guess the way I'm retelling Perfect Cherry Blossom is by writing down the stages and dialogue as if it were a story instead of game, which may include having to write original scenes as well.
