I think Kiritsugu is awesome. I wouldn't have minded if he was the main character. He's a lot more interesting than Shirou at the very least.
I agree about the suit though. Saber looks so sharp in that suit. I love it.
I can't throw myself fully behind Kariya as he seems kind of foolish in his decisions, as noble as they might be. He's taken on something obviously beyond him, bent to his father's evil will and thrown away any hope for himself to survive. He's a tragic character, but really the tragedy is largely of his own design.
Probably the most compelling Master for me is Kotomine. I of course don't root for him, but I've always found him a fascinating character and here in this younger state that's not changed.
Kind of have to root for Waver to some extent too. Him and Rider are amusing and add a lot of much needed lightness to the show.
On the other end of things, Caster and his master are very entertaining in the most terrible way. _________________

I still prefer Shiro, one reason because in Fate and Unlimited Blade Works he manages to become the hero that Kiritsugu failed to become.
I don't think that Kariya really cares about what happens to himself or not.
Rider, Waver, Caster, and Rinnosuke are lots of fun to watch. _________________

Eh, it's probably just my character preferences. I've never honestly cared for Shiro that much.
Yeah, I get that with Kariya, but that is itself a kind of mentality that, while compelling, I find kind of misguided, especially since I know it's all going to be futile in the end.
Indeed. _________________

It's just that most anti-heroes I've seen the during the many previous anime series I've seen have become stale and I want to see a traditional good hero again.
Oh, and Kotomine's scenes are my favorite scenes. _________________

Characters like Shiro are the ones that seem stale to me in anime.
Heh. Yes. Kotomine's scenes are great. Next to Saber and pie Rin he's the most engaging character, I'd say. _________________

Again, it's preference.
Kotomine is one of the most epic villains I've seen. _________________
