the franchises that disappointed me the most over the current years would be the the sypro, crash, sonic and call of duty games.
what ones do you think have failed.

Hmmm, hard to say. I suppose the first that pops to mind for me is the Metoid series because of the move to focus on the Prime games (FPS don't agree with me); I still need to play Other M to determine if it's a step back in the right direction for the series agreeing with me, but over the past many years I've craved a new Metroid with the classic gameplay and received nothing.
Then there's the case of mishandled SEGA RPG series, I loved in my youth, Phantasy Star and the Shining games. The former, after four pretty cool classic RPGs, branched off and now the brand only touches online games, something that doesn't particularly interest me. The latter on the other hand, moved from some fun strategy RPGs to (from what I hear generic) action RPGs (though they did a strategy RPG last year, apparently, it didn't make it out of Japan). I don't expect things to stay the same, but that the brands are still alive and now but only used on games i have little interest in is kind of frustrating.
The greatest game related disappointment I have is with the Tales of series though. Not because the games have started to fall in quality though, but because of a gross mishandling of the series by the publisher. They released only the XBox version of Vesperia, meaning I never got to play it. Since then they've released nothing. Every game in this series I love gets passed over by Namco-Bandai and entirely ignored. It's sad really, especially considering it's one of my favorite series.
I might have said at some point Final Fantasy was disappointing me. The online thing seems to be off point. Not to say they can't do online games, but I kind of don't like them being labeled as numbered main entries in the series. I also think that for a while they were focusing too much on FFVII. FFXIII sort of silenced my disappointment for a while though.
I'm also kind of disappointed in Fire Emblem. It's like my favorite series. After the brilliant and addictive and amazing, they follow it up with a remake of the first game in the series. That's fine. But then following that up with another remake, is a little irritating when I want another fully evolved original game... That said, if and when the second remake is announced for America, I will be nothing but happy.
And that's about all the disappointment I can think of right now when it comes to series I like. _________________

The Phantasy Star games I liked were on Sega Genesis. Never touched a game in the series since then.
The FF series is pretty good most of the time. Even the games that were kinda meh for me, are well loved by some people.
I haven't noticed too much censorship lately; at least not in the games I play. _________________

Yeah. It probably is just the games I play aren't the type to really get censored in the first place. _________________

Fable. I remember the good ol' days back with Fable: The Lost Chapters. That had a final boss that made me feel 'This is so awesome!' Fable II and III pale in comparison. |

Oh boy, I can't even begin what franchises seem to be dead for me.
Dennō Senki Bācharon, commonly known as Cyber Troopers: Virtual On was the game I lived for at the arcades. It was fast-paced and it required cat-like reflexes to dodge and you shoot your enemy to bits, only to dash towards your enemy and finish them off via clsoe combat. Cyber Troopers: Oratorio Tangram was my absolute favorite, and unfortunately it was the pinnacle of the franchise. Cyber Troopers: 4 Force had some very bad reviews; the United States also decided not to import the machines so there was no way for me to determine whether or not it was bad or not. And then Virtual On: MARZ, I was really considering importing it for nostalgia's sake, but they incorporated a story into it. Normally, I would consider it an improvement, but the dub butchering really killed any interest of me getting it. To me, Virtual On: MARZ killed the Virtual On franchise, and I have Sega's Hitmaker to blame for that. _________________

.HACK//GU though the story was awsome, the character designs were epic, the dogons and other enviroments beautiful, and the avatars deadly gorgous the second game in the serise really disapointed me by having super easy bosses. One two three hits half life cut scene, one two three hits dead....wow I levled up for that? Even the final boss was weak like that. Dont get me wrong I hate bosses that are insanly hard but ones that are so easy just make the victory seem hollow u know what I mean? The hardest boss in that game was at the very begining and it was the kid with the split personality Bo and Sakubo. Thats just sad _________________

Stronghold, an old RTS classic. Number 2 was awful with terrible 3D graphics. Don't even want to look at 3.
The Sims 3, because every character looks exactly the same.
World of Warcraft. The less said about Mists of Pandaria the better. They've run out of ideas but are still trying to get all they can from their cash cow. _________________ A stranger is just an enemy yet to be made.

Nintendo and EA.
Nintendo continues to make shit games that are the same as previous ones, and EA just does the same thing, slowly making them worse, as well as making you pay for an 'online code'. |

I'd say the main Final Fantasy series (crystal chronicles are awesome!) since about Final Fantasy 8. Yeah the gunblade is awesome, but having to spend half an hour getting pummelled while you draw out magic and that stupid card game sucked. Final Fantasy 9 was all out crappy, ending in a boss that ripped off Star Wars. Final Fantasy 10, just one word, TIDUS! Final Fantasy 12 is alright, but the hunts were clearly designed by a sadistic ass as the ranks make no sense, I've taken down a rank 4 monsters but a rank 3 is just about unkillable, huh. Plus Vaan didn't even make much difference to the plot after you save Ashe, he's just there for the ride, some main hero. I've not played the online ones or 13, so I can't comment on those. Tidus makes my blood boil! _________________ The Cake is a lie, Shakira's hips don't lie and now I'm confused?! |

I could agree with most of that. Eight was one of the first games I was really excited for but then was left terribly disappointed by. Nine just bored me; I never was able to complete it. Every time I ever tried, I just lost interest part of the way through. I kind of like ten and its sequel though. The plot has some noticeable holes and Tidus can be a little bit much sometimes as a main character, but from the perspective of the gameplay and mechanics it's one of the more satisfying entires in the series.
I really love 13. It's done a lot to really get me excited about the series again. I'm really looking forward to starting into the sequel later this month. _________________
