Looking past the whole James Cameron debate,
I thought that Avatar was and still is a brilliant film (at face value only)

Reading any deeper into that film is a bad idea because you'll just get disappointed.

but to be fair, I'm a sucker for all new films that come out. I watch them once and I'm pulled right into the story and just play along as though I am part of the experience (which is Why the medium of film was created) although it all becomes far more obvious about what'll happen after watching it once (sounds a bit obvious but it's something I should have noticed first time)

Watching "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" for about the 6th time xP
(I'm still a child at heart)

I haven't watched Avatar and I don't plan to. A movie who's only held up by its special effects is a movie that is sure to crumble.

But I understand where you're coming from. I used to be like that, wanting to watching every movie that pretains to me. But the thing is, if you don't like the movie you're going to be disconnected from the experience (prior opinions also don't help since it will be overhyped in your head, only to be sorely disappointed).

I have yet to watch ""Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs." Come to think of it, there's a bunch of movies I have yet to see but can't watch at this point.

that's a shame :/
but then again "Cloudy" is really just a film to burn away a few hours. a few laughs here and there although is quite good animation

and which films are you looking for?

I'd fuse it into the other topic, but I don't think even I have that power. I suppose we could say that this topic will be about Avatar, but I honestly don't have anything else to say about it. It's simply not my kind of movie.
