It’s been a while since this was first introduced. Since you all liked my Overworld idea so much, I decided to share with you my new idea. This is a new Overworld I’ve thought up for a while. I want to note that even though this new idea is part of the Overworld franchise, it’s not in anyway connected to the original Overworld’s story. This Overworld idea takes place in its own original setting with its own continuity. It’s the same with Super Robot Wars; all the games are part of the franchise, but they’re not in anyway connected to each other, unless stated to be sequels or side-stories to the other games. They’re all in their own original settings with their own continuities.

Anyway, let’s back to topic.

I humble introduce you to my new crossover game; Overworld Prime.

The setting of Overworld Prime will be a bit different from the setting of the original Overworld. Instead of the Kingdom Hearts-esque multi-world setting that Overworld had, the setting of Overworld Prime will be more like the kind of setting in Super Robot Wars, a world that combines the characters and terminology of different series together into one mish-mashed setting

So let’s get started…

Story

Throughout Earth’s history, as human society expand and develop, both through natural evolution, mysterious events, and outside forces, a new event has started take its toll upon the world.

Monsters and other dangerous outside forces threaten the existence of humankind. Not only that, but the existence of super-powered people, dubbed as “Irregulars” have been growing large in numbers, with many going chaotic and dangerous to the non-powered people. Out of desperation, the world governments banded together and created the organization “U.D.S.” to serve in protecting the people of the world as well as gathering Irregulars to register under the world governments’ control, and hunting down any rogue Irregulars. Soon a rebel force called the “Terragators” rose up against the U.D.S’s policies and methods. The threat of the monsters and outside forces is grave and demands attention, but both the U.D.S and the Terragators strongly disagree on how to handle the situation and have both engaged in a planetary civil war.

Our protagonist is Tokimi Tendo, a college student who is secretly an Irregular. She had managed to hide her powers from society until one day the university she attends to was attacked by a pack of strange “clockwork” mechanical monsters. To protect herself and her fellow schoolmates, she was forced to reveal her powers to fight off against the mechanical beasts. But now everyone knows that she’s an Irregular.

As the player, you control Tokimi, and now that you’ve revealed yourself as an Irregular to the public, you have brought yourself into the planetary civil war between the U.D.S. and the Terragators, and there is no middle ground. You must choose a side.

Which will you choose; Order or Freedom?

Terminology

Irregulars: The general term used for any human with superhuman abilities, whether they’re artificial, scientific, or supernatural, of many different origins. Their numbers have growing, and alignments vary amongst each individual.

U.D.S: The United Directorate of Superhumans, an organization built by the world governments with the purpose of protecting the people of earth from the many hostile forces that threaten humankind’s existence. It’s also their duty to gather Irregulars everywhere and register them under the government’s control. They’re under the agenda that the world needs order and regulations to combat against the outside forces, though their methods are extreme, such as forcing many Irregulars to register against their wills.

Terragators: A group of rebels that have rose up against the U.D.S. They understand the dire situation of having fight against the hostile forces, but are against the U.D.S’s policy and methods of violating human rights in the name of order. They fight back to protect the rights and freedoms of Irregulars, but they can be pretty chaotic and even have Irregulars that are dangerous criminals amongst their group.

Clockworks: Strange mechanical monsters built with a bizarre clock-like theme. At first they seem like just one of the many different monstrous forces that threaten the world, but they prove to be different because they’re mainly targeting Tokimi for some unknown reason. Is there more to these particular monsters than meets the eye?

Gameplay

The gameplay I imagined for Overworld Prime will be mostly the same as Super Robot Wars’ gameplay, as shown here.

Also like Super Robot Wars, there is a relationship-like stat with the characters, ranging from lovers, to friends, to rivals.

Lovers is a stat mainly for characters of a particular series that are canonically in love with each other. Friends is a stat for characters of a particular series that are canonically friends, but it’s also for characters from different series cross-over that also become friends. Rivals is the same stat as Friends, but for characters who may develop a rivalry with other characters. The purpose of these stats is that it gives a boost in power whenever certain characters are close together on the field or performing team attacks together.

Note: I hope you all enjoyed it. If can think of a series that might can be a part of the Overworld Prime story, leave it in comment below. Also something interesting I have for you guys is that I’m open to any kind of ideas for any levels or scenarios that you personally think would be good for Overworld Prime, or of any characters, whether they’re from the same series or different series, interact with each other as friends or rivals. Whichever the case, I encourage you all to try this out if you like.

Most of the "visiting characters" backstories will be mostly the same, though in this kind of setting, some of them might already know each other. It's just that at the moment when they get their powers is when they're then labeled as Irregulars by the world governments.

Here's the first scenario I thought of for Overworld Prime. I hope you all enjoy it.

Stage 1: End of Normal Life

(Inside Sakaki College)

Tokimi: And… done! Finally, the exams are over and I can now relax.

Otome: There you are, Tokimi. You’ve sure took longer than most of us to finish the exams. Was it hard for you?

Tokimi: A little, but not much. I prefer to work at slow and steady pace. Think things through, and make sure I have things figured out before giving my answer.

Otome: You can’t always follow that route. You’re going to have to speed up your thought process when things get intense.

Tokimi: We’ll see.

Otome: Well it’s lunch right now. You want to eat outside?

Tokimi: Sure. Just let me turn my test in, okay?

Otome: Okay. You know where to find me, right?

Tokimi: Right.

(Outside on campus)

Tokimi: Let’s eat!

Otome: Let’s eat!

…

Otome: Hey, why do you always carry your Z-Pad with you?

Tokimi: Huh?

Otome: I know it’s the best tablet-computer out there, but you’re almost always looking at it, even when you eat.

Tokimi: Otome, have you been paying attention to what’s going on the world right now?

Otome: Of course I do.

Tokimi: Then you must know the serious crisis we’ll all in right now. I’m using my Z-Pad to keep up with as much news as possible.

Otome: So what are you looking at right now?

Tokimi: This article about how the United Directorate of Superhumans has just rounded up a group protestors in France. They claim to have evidence that there were Irregulars hiding amongst them. It’s been a week since the U.D.S. announced their policies and already they’re rounding up Irregulars by the storm.

Otome: Good then.

Tokimi: Huh?

Otome: Makes sense, doesn’t it? We have monsters appearing all over the world, and now people with super-powers going around doing whatever they want.

Tokimi: I don’t think it is right. Irregulars can be helpful against the monsters.

Otome: Not necessarily. We already have the Alter-users of HOLY, the many IS units throughout the world, and the cybernetic paramilitary companies to keep us all safe.

Tokimi: Alter-users are Irregulars too, you know.

Otome: They’re an exception. Trust me, Tokimi, the moment someone obtains new powers, they’ll always use it for selfish reasons and become a danger to the rest of society. Irregulars are just bad news.

Tokimi: …

Otome: What’s wrong?

Tokimi: N-Nothing.

(An explosion is heard)

Tokimi: W-What was that an explosion?

Otome: Sounds like it came from down the street.

Tokimi: Something’s coming this way!

(Stage Start)

…

(Enemy Units appear)

Otome: M-Monsters!

Tokimi: No, they’re machines!

Otome: What kind of machines are these? They look like… clocks.

(Enemy Units move)

Otome: Wa-aaah! They’re coming this way!

Tokimi: Tch! (Why? Why did it have to come to this?)

Otome: Tokimi! We have to get out of here!

Tokimi: G-Get everyone to safety!

Otome: W-Wait, what you’re going to do.

Tokimi: Just do as I say, Otome! There’s no time!

Otome: Alright!

(Tokimi appears)

Tokimi: Why did it have to come to this? I thought that I can keep this a secret for the rest of my life. But Otome and everyone on campus are in danger…

(Tokimi powers up. Tokimi now has a mysterious aura around her body, and is wielding a long gun with a clockwork-like design)

Tokimi: I have no choice. I must protect them!

(When Tokimi attacks an enemy unit)

Tokimi: These clock-like machines… They have a similar design as my weapon. Is this a coincidence?

(After second enemy unit falls)

Tokimi: Just a few more left.

(New enemy unit appears)

Tokimi: A bigger one? The pack-leader I assume.

(Bigger enemy unit approaches)

Tokimi: No, I can’t take them all on by myself.

(A ripple erupts around Tokimi)

Tokimi: What is this? A different kind of power, coming this way.

???: I’ve got you now!

Tokimi: ?

(A new character appears)

Tokimi: A girl? A girl in red?

Kyoko: End of the line, witch. You won’t escape from me this time!

Tokimi: She must be an Irregular too.

Kyoko: What the? Hey, lady, get out of here if you know what’s good for you!

Tokimi: I’m not going to abandon the people here. Not when I can fight.

Kyoko: Fight? But you’re not a Puella Magi.

Tokimi: Puella Magi?

Kyoko: Tch, whatever. If you want to get yourself killed, then fine. Just stay out of my way.

Tokimi: Quite an attitude you’ve got there.

(When Kyoko attacks an enemy unit)

Kyoko: You must be pretty cocky to move about outside a labyrinth. No matter; your Grief Seed is mine!

(After all enemy units are defeated)

Kyoko: What? It didn’t cough up any Grief Seed? It was neither a witch nor a familiar. Dammit, I used up my energy for nothing.

Tokimi: I don’t know who you are, but thanks for your help.

Kyoko: I didn’t do it for you, lady.

Tokimi: Just tell me who you are?

Kyoko: You don’t need to know. I’m just a stranger passing by.

Tokimi: W-Wait!

(Kyoko disappears)

Tokimi: She just left like that.

Otome: Tokimi?

Tokimi: O-Otome?!

Otome: You… you’ve just fought off those things, didn’t you?

Tokimi: I…

Otome: You’re an Irregular, aren’t you?

Tokimi: I… I…

(Tokimi runs away)

Otome: Tokimi!

(Somewhere in the city)

Tokimi: (Breathing heavily) My life… my normal life… it’s over. The public now knows that I’m an Irregular. This… this has to… be a nightmare. It has to!

(On a nearby Jumbotron)

News Reporter: We would like to take a moment of your time to bring you this urgent news break. Just now we have received an important video that was is being demanded at this moment to shown on a world-wide broadcast network. Due to current circumstances, we are being forced to play the video.

Mysterious Man: Attention, people of the world. We are the special interest group known as the Terragators. As you’re all aware, the government organization known as the United Directorate of Superhumans has the policy of finding and rounding up any people with special powers, known by the governments and public as Irregulars, and forcing them to register with the government’s restrictive act against any one who is called an Irregular. We, the Terragators, say that the U.D.S has gone too far and will not tolerate this any longer. The U.D.S. claims that this is for the safety of public, but what they’re doing is forcing anyone with powers to give up their rights as citizens to be put under governmental watch and to be locked up away. This is a clear violation of our rights as fellow human beings. A person who has powers, no matter their origin, should not be forced into this just because the governments are afraid of our potential. These powers are gifts, not curses, and as such they should not be shunned and removed from society. We are aware of the outside forces that threaten our very existence as a species, but our fear should not be an excuse to give up our rights and lives as people to serve the governments against our wills. This is a warning to the U.D.S.; if you do not cease your abominable acts against humanity, then we will not hesitate to respond back with armed force. Our numbers match yours, but our will is greater, and if you continue your ways, then we will stop you!

Tokimi: No way…

Ryo: Yeah, an entire armed group against the U.D.S.

Cecilia: More importantly, how’s the U.D.S. going to respond to this?

Madoka: I’m scared too, Homura.

Mami: Looks like we’re going to have to be more cautious with our duties as Puella Magi.

Yuji: This is serious, Ike

Ike: I here you, Yuji.

Yuji: What are we going to do?

Ike: I don’t know, except maybe just hope that things don’t get any worse.

Hibiki: Kanade, what are going to do about this?

Kanade: I don’t know. But if we reveal ourselves to public, we’re going get caught up in this.

Hummy: But what about Siren and the Fairy Tones?

Walter: My, my, seems the world going to be a lot more busy than usual.

Integra: The U.D.S. is going to obligate us to work with them against these violent rebels.

Alucard: It shouldn’t be too obvious, my master. This is civil war is just another example of human foolishness… and human courage.

Saber: A civil war…

Irisviel: Bad memories of your past, Saber?

Saber: Yes. But how will this affect the Holy Grail War?

Kiritsugu: Looks like the Holy Grail War is gonna have to wait a bit.
