So, my sister got some manga and anime from the library. Here's her selection:

Manga

B. B. Explosion Vol. 1-3, 5 (4 was apparently checked out prior)

Anime

Samurai X Reflection Director's Cut
Ultra Maniac Magical Friends

Samurai X sounds cool, but what are those other two? Has anyone seen these titles before?

Never heard of them, but looking it up on wikipedia, the other two are shoujo titles. Ultra Maniac is evidently magical girl.

Huh, thanks. I'm watching it with my sis right now and, the love interests of both protagonists (they're both girls) are none other than...

...Susaku Kururugi and Lelouch Lamperouge. I'm guessing CLAMP copied the art style, but seriously its them!

Considering how popular CLAMP are, it's more likely that the artist for this was inspired by their style more than the other way around.

And Suzaku and Lelouch are kind of archetypal characters in a way, so it's not surprising you could find characters who bear similarities to them in another work.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. When did CLAMP start making cartoons?

Oh, I get ya. Generic character body types, just mix and match personalities, quirks, and voices.

CLAMP started drawing manga in 1987.

Ah, that explains it.

So, we're not going to be able to watch the rest until tomorrow.

I've read all volumes of Ultra Maniac, being a big fan of one of the artist's previous works, Marmalade Boy.

That's cool, Arroyno. How did it end in the manga, if you don't mind telling me?

Sis and I watched the anime last night. Episodes 5-8 to be exact, I'm kind of leaning towards Ayu as my favorite character, Nina being a close second. Their teacher is an absolute buttmonkey, his reactions to the magical shennanigans and general insanity are hilarious.

Maya may act like a complete bitch at times, but its somewhat justified (being Nina's rival and all; that whole black magic thing concerned me for a bit but that's been dissuaded). The true villian imo is that dude with glasses. He comes off as very fanatical, to the point of perversion, in his quest to expose Nina as a witch. Dude's not only a stalkerish conspiracy theorist, he's a closet pervert too. He became the object of my many dark humor jokes for those reasons.
