Princess Celestia tasks Twilight and the rest to visit Ponyland, a state outside of Equestria populated by Earth Ponies. Ponyland has not been heard from for a time, and Celestia is worried about her neighbors. Twilight and the others arrive at the foreign land, and see that instead of magic they use highly advanced technology. However, a plague has afflicted Ponyland, and Ponies are replacing body parts with mechanical prosthetics, and the self-reliant Ponyland Ponies are refusing aid from Equestria. Twilight begins to see that something is terribly wrong with some of the Ponies that are getting prosthetics though. They can't seem to stop, and when she sees the ones that have replaced everything...

I am now writing the first chapter of this Pony horror story. While based on Doctor Who I'm not counting it as a true crossover, more a parody.

I won't understand any of the Doctor Who connections, but this does sound pretty awesome. I definitely look forward to it.

I'm probably going to have to wait until tomorrow morning to read it though. I have a bit of a cold which has me really tired even if it's kind of still early for me.

While I haven't read any other stories involving Cyber Ponies, here are the attempts of artists to make their own long before I wrote any words of this story down.

I will have different designs for some of my Cyber Ponies, but these are generally what the first soldier was supposed to resemble (although that first one appears to lack the traditional Cyberman "helmet handlebars").
