So let's say a protagonist we respect made a really bad choice. We stuck by them through the good times and the bad, and now they repay our devotion with making the complete wrong choice.
The biggest example I can think of is Keitaro going for Naru in Love Hina. That manga remains one of my absolute favourites, but I personally think Mutsumi would have been a much better choice. Every girl would have been, in my mind.
Though, this is of course subject to opinion. I probably just don't like Tsundere. _________________

This happens for me on occasion.
The clearest example that comes to mind at the moment for me is, Infinite Stratos. It doesn't finalize anything as it seems to want to have a second season, but the first season ends by strongly implying a certain pairing for the lead. The girl he seems likely to end up with there is the least interesting in all of his harem by far. Of course I don't even remember character names, and Infinite Stratos is only mediocre anyway, so why this has stayed with me for so long is beyond me.
Sometimes I really disagree with one sided crushes certain characters have. I really don't find Orihime's crush on Ichigo in Bleach compelling for instance, and in To aru Majutsu no Index I can get legitimately annoyed by Mikoto as much as I love her when it comes to Touma.
There are probably a number of cases for things kind of like this as I'm a shipper in most any series I follow, but I'm struggling to come up with many other good examples at the moment. _________________

Yeah, I know what you mean.
The other thing is when a character's emotions are never even considered, I.E. Hinata's in Naruto.
Now, I haven't seen Naruto in almost a year, but from what I understand, she confessed, and nothing has been done about it.
It just makes me a little sad. _________________

yeah. I definitely get that.
I guess for any of us who are inclined to ship, it becomes dangerous territory when things start to drift into canon. _________________

At least we don't ship our furriends.
I'm a little tired of Tsundere characters being the staple choice, but again that's probably a product of my bias. _________________

I'll admit tsundere probably is a little overdone in anime, even if I still like it. They could cut back on it a little.
As long as tsundere character remain popular though, they won't. Which is kind of unfortunate.
I prefer subtler shades of tsundere and kuudere myself, rather than just the out and out archetypal tsundere you'll often see. _________________

It's why a lot of modern series are starting to get to me. Like I pointed out in an earlier thread, it just seems as if they're reusing old formulae in the hope people will keep liking it. No-one's really doing anything groundbreaking. _________________

Which is I why I said before about my harem manga idea, the main lead doesn't go with the tsundere, and even calls her out on her behavior. _________________

That'd be a really nice thing to include in a manga.
I mean, I've been with girls who've hit me for annoying them. That kind of relationship doesn't tend to last. _________________

You say that, but I think this is one of the more original years in a while in terms of anime.
With shows like Madoka Magica, Steins;Gate, Nichijou, Tiger and Bunny, Gosick, and Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko there have really been some absolutely wonderful, creative series this year, and I've still only finished like half the shows I want to watch from it.
Sure there's a lot of formulaic stuff out there too, but this year doesn't seem that much weaker than the previous ones to me. _________________

I suppose you're right, but there are some shows that just don't appeal to me whatsoever.
I suppose I'm a cynic. _________________

There are plenty that don't appeal to me at all too. And also plenty I didn't think I'd like near as much as I ultimately did.
Nothing wrong with being a little cynical, i say. _________________

This is true. I should reserve judgement on it until I watch more, too. You can't always trust advertising. I mean, look at Lotte's Toy.
And that may be true, but I'm like Yahtzee on a bad day, if he had Leukaemia. _________________

yeah. I thought that was going to be all trashy from the description, but it surprised me by being one of the more heartwarming anime I watched this year.
Well, that's maybe not as good then... _________________

Very true. I had better hold my tongue before I speak.
And yeah, it's pretty bad sometimes. _________________
