Yeah. There have been plenty of cases where I've been overly cynical and unresponsive toward certain things myself. It's hard not to be sometimes.

It's like that every time someone starts watching MLP or reading Homestuck.

People start because they want to prove to themselves that it's unworthy of all the praise it gets. Then they grow to like it. Maybe even love it.

That's definitely how I was with Homestuck, I admit, and it almost didn't get me on account of me just not understanding a lot of it when I was first reading it.

MLP was a little different. I was cynical when first presented with the idea, but once I was prepared to actually watch it, I actually did genuinely want to like it.

So it kind of depends for me, I guess. With anime, comics or whatever, there are some I go into demanding to be impressed and there are some I'm just really eager to immerse myself from the onset.
