So, I'm wondering- has anybody here heard of a very (not even two months old) new anime called Guilty Crown? It's pretty good, taking place in 2039 ten years after an 'Apocalypse Virus' and set Japan into a state of emergency called the Lost Christmas, followed by an international group called GHQ restoring order to Japan at the price of independence.

That's just the back story since I don't want to spoil anything that's happen so far- but, has anybody here heard of it or watching it by any chance?

I heard of it, but didn't really do any more research for it.

I'm planning on watching it... along with a lot of other shows, when I get the time.

After powering though all of Fate/Zero Part 1, I decided to start the other most celebrated Fall 2011 show, Guilty Crown.

After seven episodes, I'll say I'm hooked.

I find it almost impossible not to draw comparisons between this and Code Geass. It kind of follows the same formula. Japan is under some tyranny. High school guy meets an unusual girl and is suddenly given a special power and uses it to fight alongside a terrorist group opposed to the tyranny, while still going to school sometimes. There are even mech fights.

At first I wasn't sure it was offering anything new or interesting to set itself apart from Geass. Part of what made Code Geass so special for me was Lelouch himself, his attitude, his character and more than anything the loudness of his actions. He just made the things dramatic. The main character in Guilty Crown is the opposite sort of character. He's more like Suzaku really, although with less strength of character. I still don't find him that compelling, if I'm to be honest.

The leader of the terrorist group is a pretty cool guy though, as are a lot of his subordinates. There's a sort of Kallen analog who's this wheel-chair bound tsundere ace mech pilot, who is just adorable in every way and is likely to become my favorite character. The main girl is also pretty flatly adorable and there are a number of supporting characters who seem kind of fun.

Also, the show looks good. It's Production IG, and their stuff is always visually superb. That might be one of the ways it actually surpasses Geass. The animation is just gorgeous.

In other ways, no it's not quite as good as Code Geass was, at least not yet, but it's still a very solid, enjoyable ride in its own right.

I got bored after guessing all the plot points for season one and can't find the power to get through the rest of the episodes.

Sometimes being smart is annoying.

Oh? Some of it has been a little predictable, I'll admit, but it doesn't seem that bad. I don't know. It's less about what happens with me and more about if I'm having fun with it anyways.

I almost spoke line for line with shu on an episode I had never watched.

I don't know how far episode 7 is story line wise but, the episode they were on the beach. and needed to tick one of shu's friends. Then I did it again on episode 14.

I also spoke every word Mana's ever said even in flash back and aside from Gai (Who I never quite get right) is the least predictable character.

But the fact I can so accurately predict the lines of someone who is crazy is just bs.

I could never guess what Lelouche was going to do. I just had hunches.

I see. Well, this is kind of discouraging.

I was enjoying it too, and most of what I've heard from others has been overwhelmingly positive.. I hope it doesn't really get that much more predictable.

Shounen shows are just really predictable for me, and only 3 shows have ever shook me completely

The Last half of Gosick
Code Geass
Puella Magi Madoka Magica

Eh, Well I really don't expect everything to be quite on that level of quality.

I'll probably still be able to enjoy it.

Like I said being incredibly intelligent (Especially in pattern recognition) is sometimes more of a burden.

Well, I like to think I'm kind of smart too.

I dont' really spend a lot of time guessing what will happen when it comes to entertainment.

I don't think I'm smart, i believe i recieved some kind of next gen pattern recognition software.
I'll wake up one day and go, "every day at 6:45 the same cop passes through the intersection by my house, he pulls just in front of the stop sign without slowing down on tuesdays and on thursdays he just speeds through"

and then i think "what cop" and wake up early to check, and sure enough theres a cop there.
