Perhaps then do a oneshot of Gosick or something?

Or the idea I presented to Rabu-chin, but with a different anime/game?

It needs only be a couple thousand words, really.

I do want to mention that "goth" as it is understood in Western culture is very obscure in Japan and likely the rest of East Asia. Gothic lolita is not related to goth no matter how close it looks. They can be comfortably wed though, and I want at some point to have goth and gothloli characters.

Gosick is fun, even if the title is very weird to me.

The title does seem kind of weird. Very fun anime though. Victorique is adorable.

Goothic Lolita is a subgenre of Lolita as a general thing. Which is linked to Aristocraft, Victorian Goth and Steampunk. All three come under a blanket known as Neovictorian, which itself is part of Goth. It's all linked. Razz

Also, as you aren't English, Goth is very different for you. It's from Post-Punk, and Punk was never really big outside the UK.

As for the name Gosick, I think it's because the name 'Gothic' was already copyrighted, but the author didn't want to change the name. So he romanised it, knowing that it'd be exactly the same in his language.

Punk was never big outside the UK? I never knew that. I thought I heard someone once complain that some American punk fans didn't know about the role the UK had in punk.

The lolita fashions still developed independently of of goth movements. People just had similar ideas.

American punk was more like rock than anything else...

And I guess so. Still, I doubt many people's interpretations of what 'Goth' is are actually correct.

All I'm sure of is that Ebony Dark'ness Dementia Raven Way is not goth at all in any way.

Actually, all her clothes are fairly Gothic... Corsets and Fishnets, and black lipstick. All pretty Gothic.

Common misconception: Goth has nothing to do with metal music.

Leather and studs are Rivethead and Punk. Not Goth.

This is Goth. The Cure - Friday I'm In Love.

Her clothes maybe. But the music she likes... no.

It doesn't seem to have much to do with metal over here. More industrial stuff as well as obviously the post punk type goth stuff. Metal is more listened to by its own groups it seems.

I've always kind of liked The Cure.

No, that's all Emo.

Well... Emo is short for Emotive Hardcore, which is also a derivative of Post Punk. Well, it USED to be. Now it's just shit.

Ooh, Gothic Phil time?

And yeah, people tend to assume about Goths. Perhaps it isn't as bad as I thought, but trying to explain what you are to a Chav. Ugh.

Yeah. Which just makes it hilarious that she consistently tries to pas it all off as "goffik".

I actually like a fair number of the big post-punk/goth rock bands from that era. Hell, I even like some of the actual punk bands. My tastes in music are pretty varied really. At least I like to think they are.

They do seem to be!

Still, the majority of people have no clue about Goth.

It'd be amusing to write a oneshot about Enoby actually going Goth.

I'm not sure Ebony is intelligent enough to where it would matter...
