Oliver "Oli" Carnegie's life was no longer normal. When he thought he was a human, he was actually a creature that everyone feared. When he thinks he can ignore it, he finds himself caught in a battle to protect his family from monsters who meaned them harm. He had to keep it a secret from them, while trying to stop his enemies from causing anymore havoc.

But now, he felt he needed some time to himself, a little break. He figured a little ride to Shadefield would be nice. He had been there before and found it relaxing.

He was already at Atlas City's train station and just purchased a ticket. He took a seat at a bench to wait for his train when he spotted a familiar face nearby.

[Jessie Ironeagle was sitting on another bunch, feeling bored. She wanted to get on the train and reach Shadefield as soon as she could. She liked living in Atlas City, but she tried to keep in touch with the old medicine men who were eager to have someone young listening to them.

She glanced over, and happened to spot Oli. She smiled, her spirits lifted. "Hey, Oli!" she called out.]

"Jessie!" Oli called back. Jessie Ironeagle was the first person he befriended since he moved to Atlas City. She was different from other girls he met, especially in appearance. More than that, she was his partner in fighting back against the monsters who terrorized their hometown.

He went over and sat next to her. "What're you doing here? Are you going to Shadefield too?"

She smiled at Oli. "What are you going to Shadefield for?"]

"I just needed some time away from Atlas City," Oli answered, giving a weak smile. "After all the... you know what that has happened lately, I'm feeling a bit tired, so I figured I could use some relaxation for a bit."

Soon their train arrived and they got on board together.

[Jessie sat next to Oli, allowing him to sit by the window. "I hear some freaky stuff happens in Shadefield too," she said. "There are all these stories the medicine men tell me about how evil worms were once sealed into the land, but a rival tribe and an evil priest released them. It took the Mahìngan and the white settlers to stop the infestation!"

She looked at Oli gravely. "Let's be careful out there."]

The stories of evil worms reminded him of the one that attacked his house the other day, the day when he found out who he really was. "So Shadefield's wasn't a go-happy place either." Oli sighed sadly. "Oh well."

Wanting to change the subject, he turned to Jessie. "Hey, Jessie, are there any interesting places in Shadefield to visit?"

"Really, eh?" said Oli. "I sure would like to have some fun there." It brought a little smile to his face.

'How do you do that, Jessie?' He thought. 'How can you be able to make others feel better and stay positive?'

The train arrived at their destination. They got up and stepped out.

She motioned to the forests and fields around them. "Fight for this beautiful world and your friends. That's the important thing."]

A quick walk later, they came to the reservation. It was like the neighborhoods of Shadefield, perhaps a bit poorer looking. Jessie went to a house, introduced the owner as her aunt, then took Oli into the backyard. A hut-like structure made of bark and branches large enough for three people was set up.

"Cool, right?" Jessie asked Oli.]

"Wow," Oli said, astonished by structure before him. He stepped forward to inspect it closely. "This looks very well made."

He looked back at Jessie. "Did you make this by yourself?"

["Most of it," Jessie said. "Some guys didn't approve because traditionally the man of a family builds these."

She went inside, but it was bare. "I slept in a sleeping bag after building it, and I do that once every visit."]

"I see." Oli replied, following Jessie inside. "You must be very skilled in craftsmanship to have worked on most of this."

He can understand why Jessie would take pride in building such a fine wigwam; he took pride in how well he builds, customize, and paints his miniature models.

He stood next to Jessie, blushing a little for standing a bit too close to her in a small space. "How often do you visit here?"
