OK, I'm getting a laptop soon, but I have yet to decide on what I should get.

What are the differences between a Microsoft and an Apple laptop?

Including price here.

Why I love my MacBook:

I've never had a virus on my MacBook ever and I've had it for over two years. I had to scan any windows computer I've ever used for infections regularly. This makes the computer consistently fast. The only moments of drag occur when I leave programs open for far too long and that's really my fault.

Mac has a really cool, sleek graphical user interface that I really love. Windows feels kind of static compared to it to me.

My Macbook is very lightweight, sleek, comfortable and durable in terms of the computer itself. Most Windows running laptops I've seen are a lot bulkier.

Things less good about my MacBook:

It's incompatible with a lot of programs. I can usually fine Mac OS X friendly alternatives to most, but for some (less vital) programs I have to run a Windows virtual machine to use. If I did a lot of PC gaming, for instance, I'd probably have to have that Virtual Machine on almost constantly, and that thing slows down my system.

It's more expensive then a similarly sized and powered Windows computer. By quite a bit too. I don't have the most expensive model, and it was over $1,000 for me. My sis' Gateway was like $600-700 if I recall.

Repairs are harder to get. My computer has only only had major difficulties twice (and in quick succession, the second time being because not everything was fixed the first time). But yeah, your local affordable computer repair place won't be able to fix a Mac most likely and you'll have to go through Apple themselves. They're quick, and have good customer support (in the case I just mentioned the second repair was free), but prices are a little steep. Buying replacement battery chargers and such is also high (and I've gone though a lot of said chargers... but as they were just redesigned, Apple might have fixed that issue finally).

Thanks, that's really informative.

I think I should probably get a Mac, but I do kinda like Windows, if only because I'm used to it.

I was used to it to when I made the change. I had no trouble adapting.

All I'd ever do is college work (mainly word documents), anime and web browsing.

It should be fine for all that.

Why Apple computers can take a hike......

Guess who has all the games......Microsoft
Guess who has the most compatable system software........Microsoft
Guess what doesn't cost £800........a Microsoft run computer/laptop

Basically apple is good for other things like the iPad ;P, or ipods, but thier Macs have got a great OS, but for the price it is better to get a laptop

I've got connections with HP and may be able to get you a good deal

If you do a lot of computer gaming, yes a PC is definitely better. I do next to none. I'm definitely happier with my Mac than any other computer I've had.

I love Macs they don't get viruses and generally speaking are faster and easier to use. But expensive my mom refused to buy me one and since I have no job, what she says goes. So now I have a windows and Its very annoying to remember to scan for viruses before i start playing online.

That being said I can play maplestory on this guy so its not all bad.
