Ah, I should have specified. The DVD.
The first volume was finally released last week. _________________

Just watched the OVA episode 27 that came out at the beginning of last month, I believe (or at least that's when I downloaded it).
Really cute episode with the girls planning a graduation trip overseas. Thoroughly amusing. Reminded me just why I love this show so much, and got me even more pumped for the DVD which will be arriving shortly. _________________

So, I just finished watching the DVD I bought. Episodes 1-4 of K-On!
A kind of nostalgic experience. it's really been a while since I saw these first few episodes of the first season. That made them all fresh and exciting in my head. it was great to see how it all started again. Definitely refreshing.
But the main thing to comment on is what was different here, that being the brand new English dub. I have to say I liked it.
Going character by character, Stephanie Sheh fit Yui perfectly and brought a lot of life to the role, as would be expected of such a prolific voice actress with so many credits to her name. Cristina Valenzuela was probably the stand out to me as Mio, handling the role perhaps even better than Yoko Hisaka did, perfectly capturing both sides of Mio's personality, the strong and the delicate. The two relative new comers, Cassandra Morris and Shelby Lindley performed well enough as well, filling out the rest of the band. Morris' Ritsu was actually pretty perfect most of the time, capturing the fun and energy of Ritsu just as good as Satomi Sato. Lindley's Mugi was the least favorite of the four, but I was probably expecting too much. She was good, I'm just probably overly fond of how Minako Kotobuki performs its role.
As for the supporting roles, I always love Karen Strassman, and though we didn't see that much Sawako, she seems to be just right for the role. Laura Bailey, perhaps my favorite overall English voice actress used her deep, restrained voice to capture Nodoka quite well. Xanthe Huynh has a really awesome name. Her Ui was also perfectly acceptable.
So yeah, the dub is good. Not really many complaints with it really. The dub script seems well written, and captured perfectly the shows fun sense of humor.
On an unrelated note, while still on the subject of K-On!, I was just reading the wikipedia page.... I wasn't aware Kakifly started the manga back up with the girls in university... wow, that sounds awesome. And as popular as K-On! is, it makes it likely that a third season might show up at some point... _________________

Like I really needed more anime to watch, but... just got an e-mail from Bandai about a big sale they were having on stuff. Had to check it out
K-On! was on sale. I got both volume 2 and volume 3 for about $35. Not bad, I think. Looking forward to finally watching more of the dub. _________________
