["Behold, the secrets of ancient Ishtar!"

The crowd stood around, watching the strange woman in the white laboratory coat and thick glasses prancing around the new museum exhibits.

"I, the great Haruka Takeuchi, reveal to you the forgotten relics of a forgotten side of Ishtar!" The woman, Haruka Takeuchi, deftly tore concealing sheets off of stone statues of curvaceous, busty Neyt women in revealing dresses or naked.

"These statues were recovered from a lost city of a much more advanced age of Mij! Marvel at the beauty and craftsmanship!" Dr. Takeuchi demonstrated her own amazement of the statues by groping, fondling, and rubbing her body against the statues in a near-sexual ecstasy.

"That's really gross," April Quinn said to a friend. "Both her and those statues. What's with the Mij being obsessed with boobs all the time, especially their girls? It's so creepy! They're all perverts. The people who think they're the best thing ever are perverts too."

Taylz Zwo-Yri stood behind April, and wondered what a "pervert" was. It was exciting to see the beautiful old statues her ancestors made apparently, and seeing the Earthling woman with her own big breasts (for an Earthling at least) touching them made Taylz tingle.

"Taylz wanna touch too," she said.

Li Chunxiang envied Takeuchi for a number of reasons. She wished she could be on Ishtar instead of being stuck on Cameron. It was wild and primitive down there, and likely there were exciting building projects and anthropological expeditions like the one Takeuchi just returned from. She secretly admired the Mij in some ways; their figures were especially exciting to her. But she was assigned to Cameron so leaving would be going against orders.

Not like they have much for me to do, she thought bitterly. Seriously, who's gonna attack Cameron? We don't have enemies now! But no! I gotta be on stand-by!

Maybe she could get away with inviting someone to fly around with her outside. Having a sexy Mij friend would be great! Would it be possible to get closer to Mumar at Sideways?]

Both Harold and Alexis Tanner stood together amongst others watching Takeuchi showing off ancient relics. Harold rubbed his chin in a devious manner. "The Mij sure are an impressive species. It'd be sweet if I nab one for a girlfriend." He smiled. "Yep, they'll sure be nice cold fish to thaw."

"Please, Harry, you're embarrassing me." Alexis whispered back, though she does admit that the Mij were pretty interesting. That had been alot talk about the human race preparing to encounter life on other planets; it was quite a surprise to know that that dream has finally become a reality.

"It's cool, Alex. You know me, I wouldn't hurt a fly." Harry chuckled while patting his cousin's shoulder.

"Ah, Dr. Tanner, fancy we finding you here." a man's voice spoke from behind the two. It was Professor Ingram, head scientist of one of the largest science teams on Cameron. Beside him was another familiar face.

"Oh, good to see you, Professor. And Rasyg, how have you been?" she smiled at the young Mij boy. He was pretty cute for an adolescent alien, not to mention pretty.

"Unyu!" Rasyg chirped, moving close to Alexis and rubbed his head against her shoulder. Alexis giggled and patted the alien boy's head.

"Easy, Rasyg." said Professor Ingram. "Here, come look at the statues of your ancestors."

Rasyg looked up to the bountiful statues and smiled. "Unyu!"

[Odette Fuerst watched the woman unveil the statues closely, her eyes cold and narrow.

She blushed at the display the woman put on. Bringing so much attention to that. Looking down at her flat chest she suddenly felt deeply inferior. Feeling like that pissed her off. She shook her head. She had a job to do. Taking out a small camera from her pocket, she took several pictures of the statues. She'd show these to mother so she could determine if they were worth buying or not. If so, they'd be shipped back to Earth to be displayed in one of the museums her daddy owned. "Artifacts from an alien world!" Odette could picture the title already. All the while she wondered if such frankly sexual pieces belonged in those museums. Maybe they'd need to start a new museum for Ishtar stuff altogether. Either way, Odette could tell she was only going to get richer and richer, which bigger and better presents. Maybe some implants if something didn't happen soon...

Regardless, she needed to close in and take some better shots. Camera in hand, she began to snap away.

Private Matilda Brennan smiled as she looked at the display. She liked museums. You could always see many wonderful new things when you visited them. The Mij statues certainly were new and unique. The focus on the statues breasts made her feel self conscious of her own overly large breasts. Oh how she hated them. They made her stand out when she wanted to just blend in.

"Excuse me, miss..." said the fresh-faced young soldier as she approached a young blonder girl she noticed, holding a camera. "But this is a private exhibit. Photography is strictly prohibited."

"Oh? And what are you going to do about it?" said Odette coldly. "You obviously have no clue I am so I advise you to kindly mind your own business, you damned cow!"

"C-cow...!" Matilda gulped timidly, upset.

Cassandra Sloane looked at the display ahead with a cold eye. She didn't care about the artwork of those backwater savages. She was there only to keep things in line with her subordinates, many of whom insisted on seeing this new display. This was an unfamiliar world filled with wild, unpredictable people they still knew so little about. Violence could erupt at a moment's notice. Weakness was not an option.

"You continue to fail as a soldier, Private," Cassandra started as she watched a young soldier fail to enforce a simple museum rule with a child. "You know you're not cut out for this."

"Major Sloane!" the private started, becoming rigid as she gave her salute. "I apologize for my... I just..."

"Silence! Do you honestly think you'll be ready to fight as a soldier if you can't even stop a child?" she spat at the girl. "You're an embarrassment, Private. A damned embarrassment."

"I'm sorry," the private spoke, breaking into tears.

Cassandra felt her stomach turn with disgust. Weakness was something she couldn't tolerate. Even though she knew there was nothing the private could have done. She recognized the Fuerst child. Not even a woman of her rank could touch someone with that much wealth.

Scowling, Cassandra opted to disappear into the crowd. ]

[Chunxiang noticed the commotion going on to the side. She stepped in and saw Private Matilda Brennan and Major Cassandra Sloane by some little girl. Sloane walked off before she could say anything to her, leaving just Brennan and the little girl.

"Hey, what's going on here?" she asked. Chunxianf spotted the camera in the girl's hand. "Oh, you're not supposed to have that here." With that, she snatched the camera away.

Taylz and April both noticed the talking people close by.

"Rasyg?" Taylz said, recognizing a Mij name. She spotted a fellow Mij, either a boy or an undeveloped girl much like herself. "Mij too!" she said to him. "Play? Friend?"

April stepped back in surprise, shocked that some Mij were right around her. They looked like normal people though, so her alarm faded. Maybe they were civilized.]

The group turned to the Mij girl. Rasyg stepped towards her with curiosity. "Friend?" he spoke to her, pointing to her. He understood what she meant, and it filled him with excitement. "Hah, unyu!" he said with joy and threw his arms around her.

"Rasyg!" Professor Ingram pulled the alien boy off. "I apologize, young lady. I'm sure Rasyg here didn't mean to startle you like that. It just that he has little trouble with words, so he expresses himself through actions. He hardly has anyone to hang around with, and I'm certain that he would like to play with you."

Harry and Alex joined in. "Well, look here. I didn't know that we see Mij around here on Cameron. How about you, Alex?"

"Oh, well I knew about Rasyg. At times Professor Ingram would bring him to me for medical checkups." Alex answered. She then turned to the Mij girl and introduced herself. "Nice to meet you, I'm Dr. Alexis Tanner. And this man here is my cousin Harold."

"Hey, kid. Call me Harry, okay?" Harry smiled and winked.

[Odette almost snarled at the woman as she grabbed her camera. She did give one hell of a scowl.

"That is my property! I ask that you please unhand it!" the girl said loudly. "If you do not do as I say, you will not like the consequences."

She shook her head and gave a low growl. "I'm sure your unaware, but I am someone of great importance. I am the one and only daughter of Wilhelm and Rosalinde Fuerst. I'm sure you understand what that means even if you are as stupid as you look."

Taking a step forward, tilting her head and smiling cruelly, Odette added. "You will return that to me or my father will ruin you. Understood?"

"Fuerst?" the nearby Matilda gulped at the name. They were really big. This girl wasn't bluffing. Looking around, she caught sight of two men in dark suits studying them from afar.

"I think maybe you should listen to her...." said Matilda to the attractive air force officer. "If she's who she says she is... it could really mean trouble."

"Heh, at least one of these cows has a brain it seems," said Odette looking at the woman with her camera. "Now here. Hand it over."

Cassandra shuffled through the crowd until she came upon a scene. She hadn't been expecting to see actual Neyt people there that day. It came as a shock. There were no less than two of them, embracing. On second look, she recognized one of them as the new cadet who had actually joined up with them. She approved of this sort of movement. Even if someone came from more than humble origins, if they actively decided to better themselves they were worthy of her respect. The more Neyt that took this girl's sterling example and abandoned their archaic Mij ways to live with humans, the better.

She gradually approached another cadet, a young girl, she didn't recognize on the edge of the scene.

Nodding, she spoke. "Everyone is capable of progress it seems, cadet. Isn't that marvelous?" Giving a laugh she added. "All those savages will come around eventually. They'll realize how far ahead of them we truly are in time."]

["Harry! Alex!" Taylz repeated, liking their names. She smiled at them, then turned to Rasyg. "Rasyg friend!" she cried.

Taylz squeaked when she heard the voice of Major Cassandra Sloane though. She turned away and snapped a salute to the major. "Madame!" she said. "Cadet Zwo-Yri is here! Madame need Cadet?"

April turned too salute too, annoyed that Zwo Yri had to be with her. "Sir, yes Sir!" she said. "My family's working hard to bring civilization to them as we speak!"

She personally thought the major's views were a little too harsh on the Mij—April balked at calling them "savages"; they just needed a little help and encouragement , and soon they would be as good as anyone else.

I just wish Zwo-Yri would learn how to talk! she thought.

Chunxiang had always fantasized about standing up to some rich snob who thought she could break the rules because she was so rich, proving that the military forces couldn't just be pushed around. But when she was faced with the real thing, she suddenly felt very small.

Fuerst...I really have no choice here, do I?

Glaring, Chunxiang slowly handed the camera back. "I'm terribly sorry," she said, hating herself for giving in. She avoided Brennan's eyes, feeling like she had comprised her values.

"Attention!" Takeuchi suddenly called. "Some lucky attendees will be receiving some prizes for visiting this monument to greatness and beauty!"

A female Mij assistant dressed like the statues were stepped up with a data pad tucked into her ample cleavage. She pulled it out and began reading aloud. "Matilda Brennan! Odette Fuerst! Li Chunxiang! April Quinn! Cassandra Sloane! Alexis Tanner! Taylz Zwo-Yri!"

As she read the names, another happy Mij maiden bounced around cheerful to hand a plastic bag to everyone who's name was spoken. "Lucky winner is you!" she would say cutely.

"Lucky winner is me!" Taylz cried, forgetting about the major. She opened her bag, and gazed, impressed, at a necklace of glittering emerald.

"Please accept these imitation ancient Mij Nation fertility ritual necklaces!" Takeuchi said. "The real ones shall be on display so come any time!"]

"Huh?" Alex was surprised when she heard her named, more surprised when the Mij maiden gave her the plastic bag. She opened it and pulled out an emerald necklace just like Taylz. "It's pretty." she said, almost hypnotized by its beauty.

"Lucky?" said Harry. "I wonder how that thing is suppose to be lucky?"

"I'm sure it's just something they just wanted to give for appreciation." said Alex. But then again, she didn't remember signing for any contest.

"Unyu, unyu." Rasyg tugged on Professor Ingram's coat and pointed to Taylz. The professor patted the Mij boy's head.

"Why, of course you can play with your friend, Rasyg." he look at Talyz. "You wouldn't, would you?"

["What the hell is this?" said Odette studying the necklace she was given mercilessly. "This obviously isn't real emerald! What do you take me for? Do you think I would honestly wear costume jewelry like this?"

"I-if you don't want it... I"m sure someone else would..." said Matilda, already wearing hers and smiling, very pleased. "Perhaps you'd be kind enough to give it to someone else, Ms. Fuerst?"

"Why does this cow keep talking to me?" Odette sighed again, watching as the pathetic soldier flinched. Brushing the other off, Odette looked back down at the necklace.

"Though I suppose that if this is a replica of the real thing, I could show it to mother," she said. "This necklace just might be a valuable centerpiece for a display back home..."

Matilda just shook her head and averted her eyes, looking instead at the woman next to her who had also got a necklace. She smiled at the air force officer but didn't say anything.

Cassandra was more than a little embarrassed to hear her name called. It broke the cool she was riding on as she addressed the cadets. She took a look at the necklace and put it back in the bag. Such things were far to gaudy for her. How was best to get rid of the thing without looking bad for it? Observing the scene, it hit her.

"War is what the military is for, cadets," said Cassandra. "But war is not something we can rely on exclusively. Diplomacy is a the means on which stable bonds are formed! Down to the smallest action." With that, she stepped toward the two Neyts. "Observe."

"Would you like the pretty necklace, little girl?" she asked in a condescending voice, holding the plastic bag in front of the Mij child she was less familiar with; the one kept by the scientist. "Your friend got one, but you didn't, huh? Well you can have mine. I have no use for such things."

She stared at the Mij "girl" as she held out the bag, unsure what reaction she'd receive.]

["I—" April was handed the bag, and the giver moved on. Hearing that it was for a fertility ritual made her feel ill. It wasn't just a pagan ritual, it was a pagan sex ritual. Even if it was just a replica it was creepy and gross.

But pretty though, she thought as she looked at the necklace. It was very realistic and detailed. A lot of work went into making it look real.

I'll just give it to someone else later, she thought. She watched the major and smiled. That was the way to do things. She felt safe with people like the major around.

Taylz laughed and clapped. "Now Friend Rasyg can have lucky prize! Play good, yes?"

Chunxiang noticed Brennan's smile, and weakly returned it. "So, nice museum, eh?" she asked, putting the necklace on. Inside the largest emerald there was a tiny spark of light, but it faded instantly.]

"Oh, I'm afraid you're mistaken, Major. This Neyt is really a boy." Professor Ingram spoke.

"Unyu." Rasyg smiled and took the necklace from the Major.

"But I guess it's okay if he accepts a false necklace." Professor Ingram finished. "What do you say, Rasyg?" The Neyt boy looked up at the major and bowed his head as a way of saying thank you to her. "Now go on and have fun with your friend. Just don't get into trouble, okay?"

"Pa." Rasyg nodded and stood next to Talyz.

"If you ever need to drop him off, just head to Gamma Labs in Sector R, okay?" Ingram said to Talyz.

Alexis tucked her necklace back into the bag. "So I guess this event is over now?"

["It would seem so," Cassandra answered the pilot's question, eager to speak so as to hide her embarrassment. Had she honestly just mistaken a male for a female? What sort of role model was she for the cadets if she was making such silly mistakes?

"Nothing more to see," she said. "Idleness is weakness. Return to your assignments posthaste, cadets."

She nodded and turned to leave.

"Yeah... I guess," said Matilda. "it's too bad they don't have more to see here yet though. I came to Cameron just to see all the wonderful things on Ishtar, but I haven't even been to the planet yet..."

Nearby, Odette gave a huff and then walked forward a bit. She'd try and get a few more pictures before she left. Mother always told her to be thorough. She'd want to see the statues from every relevant angle.]

[April looked over at Takeuchi again. "That's all for tonight, people!" she said cheerily, flanked by her two Mij assistants. "Come back tomorrow night and we how the exhibits are!"

April was relieved she could leave now. "Sir, yes Sir!" she replied smartly to the major.

"Sir, yes sir!" Taylz said too. She looked back to Rasyg, wondering if he would be allowed to stay with her. She doubted they would let him in the dormitory though.

"Play later, Friend Rasyg?" she asked.

"Just come on," April said to her.

"Me too," Chunxiang sighed. "I'm stuck here all the time."

She looked at the lovely private and suddenly longed for company. "Hey, do you wanna get some drinks?" she asked playfully. "I could use some."]

"Hey, mind if I join? I have nothing else to do." Harry asked good-looking pilot.

Rasyg saddened at what Talyz said. Ingram put a comforting hand on his shoulder. "There, there, I'm sure they have their reasons. You can play with them later. And look on the bright side, at least you've made a friend."

Rasyg's spirits brightened and smiled. "Unyu!"

[Matilda looked around, unsure of herself. She didn't make friends easy. She was shy around new people, especially one one one. It didn't help that the woman asking was really sexy and cool looking. That's why it was something of a relief when the young pilot came out from the crowd and offered to join them. If it was a group, Matilda would stand out less.

"O-okay...I'll go with you..." she said, smiling softly.

Odette continued taking pictures of the exhibits as the crowd emptied out. She went so far as to take pictures of Takeuchi and her assistants even, as if to spite them. Mother was going to be so proud of her when she returned. She glanced over to the two men mother insisted follow her to ensure her safety, the two bodyguards she had expressly told to stay as far away from her as possible. They seemed eager to leave that place.

Sighing, she decided to leave. She'd just take one more picture...

Cassandra Sloane gave a sigh as she left the museum. For all her talk about idleness, she honestly didn't have anymore work to do that day herself. She didn't have to report in for another two hours and was free pretty much the rest of the day. Seeing as she was hungry, she decided to head to a local restaurant. Apparently a local place, owned by Mij, nonetheless was receiving a fair amount of buzz. Always one happy to see every step the Mij took to assimilate in with Earth society, Cassandra figured she'd check it out.]
