I was awful pleased with Negima once I finally gave it a chance...

Maybe I should look at another long running shounen manga that's been recommended to me a number of times...

All right then. Oh, also, while Natsu, the boy with pink hair, is clearly the main fighter, many readers are of the opinion that the true protagonist is Lucy, the blonde girl. She is not especially skilled in combat but most of the story is through her perspective.

Well the series is revolving around Lucy (The blonde haired one), but also shows you Natsu's development in his skills as a Dragon slayer. Also about his history, and generally everyones history at one point or another.
