I bought Bleach 55: The Blood Warfare, which begins exactly with the new "Millennium Blood War arc", and features a closeup of the unnamed Vandenreich leader as the cover image. The volume begins with Kubo trying to make the story darker than anything previously in Bleach combined. Starting here, the violence is more brutal, the villains more depraved, and the over all atmosphere one of despair and pain. It has Arrancar being lined up and gunned down by Nazi-esque Quincies, it has a new villain torturing Hollows for sport, it has a high-ranking Soul Reaper being assassinated right in front of Yamamotogenryuusai, it has Harribel looking like she has been beaten and raped. On the other hand, it features the return of Nel, Pesche, Sung-Sun, Apacci, and Mila Rose, who keep things light in their scenes.

I was reading The Blood Warfare again, and noticed that Francseka Mila Rose's new outfit is rather peculiar. Either she is wearing a kind of undershirt with a bikini top over that, or she just has some kind of girdle around her upper waist and a bikini top (if this were in color I would be able to see which is the case). Either way, that is an odd fashion choice.
