"You'd think so. But I tend to find myself alone. All of my friends have been picked out because of their family's influence. No-one has any strength of character, and their minds are narrow. Truly, this is a shame, for their harts are good enough." Sighing, Gennosuke cricked his neck and once more gazed at the screen before him. "Even on my eighteenth birthday, my father is too wrapped up in his work to embrace me. Even offer me congratulations upon my coming of age. He cares more for numbers of the six figure variety, I think."]

[Inari was silent. He wasn't sure what to make of Gennosuke's situation. It sounded so good to him to have so much money, and Inari always assumed that if he had that kind of money he wouldn't even need company; just having the money would be good enough. Part of him wanted to tell Gennosuke to be thankful just for being so well-off. But how bad was it, really? Inari didn't know, so he couldn't just tell Gennosuke to be thankful.

[Inari cocked his head, pondering what to say. "I'm not much," he said. "I'm a collage student, trying to make the money for university and just taking care of myself. I haven't had time to meet many other people yet, and I lost my job at the music store. My CV isn't very impressive, really, so I'm finding work difficult."]

Gennosuke was feeling closer to his juniour by the second. Without thinking, he let his hand trail down from the boy's hair and pressed his fingers against his lips.

"Inari... I want you to know that I'm not doing this, paying for you, to seduce you. Or win friendship. It's because I want to, OK?"]

["Ah...I see..." Inari almost felt like crying. It was like an angel came down to him and was offering him a chance to live in heaven! He might be able to get a new job, and all because Gennosuke wanted to. Inari couldn't be cynical in the face of such a kindness.]

[The warm lips just barely touching his own, for only a second, made Inari's eyes widen and his fur stand up. Everything ceased to exist outside that single moment. Inari almost thought he imagined Gennosuke doing that, but could have imagined something so vivid?

[Softly holding the back of Inari's head, Gennosuke coninued to softly kiss him. He tasted sweet, which only fueled Gennosuke's desire to be close to the boy. Holding his head, he guided it down to rest upon his shoulder, enjoying the feeling he was getting from beng protective.

"Hush, Inari." he almost whispered. "It's ok."]

[Inari felt like he had melted softly on the inside. Gennosuke felt so warm and perfect. Inari was perfectly safe and content to be there, and he didn't want the moment to ever end.]

[In the minutes that followd, the film slowly winded down to a tragic, yet bittersweet end, that brought a tear to Gennosuke's eye.

"Inari" he said softly, leaning close to the young man. "Where would you like to go now?" Hyuga closed the question with a soft kiss to the top of Inari's head.]

[Inari didn't really want to go anywhere; he just wanted to stay in Gennosuke's embrace. But they would be thrown out of the cinema if they stayed too long.

Inari thought. Was there anything to do? He was curious about Gennosuke's home, but he really should wait to be invited. Perhaps there was a book Gennosuke would like to see?

"We can look at a book shop," Inari said. "Is there anything you like to read?"]

"I like fiction, mainly. Especially heroic fantasy. In fact, I have a library back home with a few volumes. What do you like to read?"

As he said this, Gennosuke was still playing with Inari's hair, twirling it between his fingers.]

["I like to look at books of art," Inari said. "Classical and modern. Photo books of dancers also fuel my imagination for poses. That's expensive though, so I sometimes just buy paperback novels instead. Romance mostly."

He smiled. "I like happy stories to help me stay optimistic."]
