[Kokoro felt relieved to be getting to the bottom of the mystery at least. She lead Hiyama-san outside and they walked until reaching the public park, which had many people, but there was always someplace that was lonely.

Eventually they stopped until a large tree. No one else in sight.

Miki took a deep breath and sighed. She didn't know how Kokoro will take it; the truth was very bizarre, she likely wouldn't believe her.

"Okay. What I said about us meeting once a long time ago is true, but it isn't what you think it is. My real name isn't Miki Hiyama; it's Mikuo Hiyama."

'Here it comes' Miki thought to herself. "This may be hard to believe, but I'm not really a girl. At least, I wasn't one my whole life. Back when you and I were just little kids, we've first met in this park. I was lost and scared but then I ran into you and you comforted me. You made me feel happy and we even played together, as short our time together was. It was the first and only time you and I had ever spent time together. Ever since, I hardly got to see you. And whenever I did, your friend Shiozaki always scared me off whenever I tried to approach you."

Miki's face bared a somber expression. "Circumstances have led up to this, though this form was done through my choice. As we grew up, it was an understatement to say that I had a poor childhood. I argued a lot with my parents and I never connected with my brother. At school I was a coward to always assumed the worse of things. At times whenever I saw, I truly wanted to reach out to you and tell you how I truly felt about you, but I was someone who didn't exist; no one would even look at me, let alone talk to me. I had no charm or talents, nothing that made me feel special. I was a completely boring person. I was too afraid to speak, especially to you. I feared that you would reject me, or worse, you might have even forgotten me. Not that I would blame you if you did; I was just a total stranger to you when we first met."

Her eyes felt heavy and watery as she confessed herself to the girl before her. "I noticed how you hang around only girls and only talked to girls, which made he think you might be... you know,"

[Kokoro was deeply surprised and saddened by what she heard. "Oh, no Mikuo-kun! I spend all my time with girls, and I do love girls, but I love boys too! I just...don't understand boys so well."

She blushed and wiggled in place. "I don't know how to approach boys, and they seem so different to me. We must have the same problem. But to become a girl to get over it! You're very determined, Mikuo-kun..."

She smiled. "You were handsome before, but so pretty now!" His/her effort and sacrifice was so incredible that Kokoro felt a sudden rush of passion, and Mikuo-kun's sad life made her feel a strong maternal instinct toward him/her. She wanted to love and protect her friend.]

Miki looked up and at the girl. "Kokoro..." Seeing her so accepting and even moved from what she told her, she felt more relieved.

But it was still too sad.

"But the thing is," Miki hesitated, eyes looking away from Kokoro. "I don't have much time left..."

Miki bit her lip again before spilling it out. "Before you and I were old enough to be high school students. My family moved away from Shizuoka Town. They thought a new, different environment would be able to help rebuild our bonds as a family. But I still couldn't find any comfort. I still felt dead inside, regretting that I was too cowardly to approach you. But before any changes can truly happen, came the tragedy. Are you familiar with the massacre that happened in the town closest to Shizuoka Town? The one where almost an entire middle school of students were slaughtered?"

Sadness and pain clung at Miki's soul. "The student that was responsible, Kouta Chimura, he killed so many people, students, teachers, even parents, all with an evil trident that he wielded. There was nothing I can do. He killed my parents. He killed my brother. He struck me, but I survived... until I realized that he had doomed me to death."

She placed her hand to her chest. Horrid memories of the trident's blades cutting down her torso. "Whatever that weapon was, it had an evil power. The moment it cut my skin, it placed a curse on me. I was one of the few who survived, but not for long."

Tears began to stroll down Miki's face. She couldn't hold it back anymore. "It was so painful. I can still feel the trident's blades cutting into me. This curse, it's been draining my life from day one. And I can feel it, my time is almost up. It's too painful! But then someone came to me. A mysterious man who I don't know, but he took pity on me. He apparently knew what was gonna happen to me, and he offered to do me a favor before I go. I asked if he bring back my family so I can apologize to them for being such a failure, but he told that such a wish was beyond his power. I searched hard for what I wanted, and in the end you were my answer."

She covered her face with her hands and cried into them. "My family's gone. I can never see them again. And I'm gonna die as nobody. A worthless person who didn't exist to anyone! What wanted now, more than anything in this world, was to see you one last time. I wanted to meet you as someone new, someone who you can look at! Not the worthless old me! I'm dying, Kokoro! I'm gonna disappear forever, and no one would remember me! I don't want that! I want to see you, the girl who I loved but couldn't tell you how I feel! I want you to know that I existed!"

Miki cried into Kokoro's shoulder for a minute before she was reduce to sniffing hiccuping. "I..." She said as she tried wiping the tears from her eyes and face. "I wanted to spend my last moments with you. That's why I wanted to hang out with you so much."
