Craft foam can make brilliant weapons (and armor), is easily available, cheap and won't become a floppy piece of shit when it gets caught out in the rain. Here's an armor tutorial, the whole thing shouldn't be more than $15 - 20. http://www.entropyhouse.com/penwiper/costumes/helmsdeep.html

A wire frame could work well. Then obviously, just flesh it out with craft foam. It'd be lightweight, and with the correct paint job like the metallic one used in that tutorial, could look pretty freaking awesome.

Hummm....I suppose so but the hilt is very intricate. A wire frame would be hard to shape propperly. Could layer it I suppose.

Nothing's impossible if you give it enough time.

Thats true but even if I made a wire frame I would have to layer it somehow because the hilt cant be flat. I still have lots of time though before AN rolls around. Thanks for the idea though Len because now the shoulder pads and everything else wont be as hard to make as I thought Cool
