For some reason, I don't ever really care about closely identifying with characters. I much prefer if the characters themselves are unique and well constructed then if they're anything like me.
Probably why I'm so put off by a lot of anime protagonists. They're constructed solely so they can be identified with at expense to making them unique in any way. _________________

Yes, thats probably why.
If your looking for well developed you could always read The Punisher.
Castle is as gritty as the worst Batman in his quest for vengence, and he tortures and horribly kills anyone in his way.
The charector is very developed though despite the obvious sheen of madness. _________________ A normal day for sheena. . .

Never really paid to much attention to Punisher. Kinda always seemed like one of those things where they were just trying to hard to make it dark and gritty. _________________

Honestly, If you don't care about spoilers.
Frank Castle is a Spec Ops military man who kills a mob bosses son in the line of duty. Said mob bos kills Frank's entire family, Frank promises revenge and sets off to acheive just that.
How can that not be gritty? _________________ A normal day for sheena. . .

I know, but it just always sounded like the creator was trying too hard or something, so I never became too interested in the films. _________________

The punisher movie has one of my favorite fight scenes of all time, with Frank Castle winning by sheer dumb luck.
I don't know if you'll find it but try looking up
Punisher Vs. Russian or something like that.
As for trying to hard? maybe. _________________ A normal day for sheena. . .

I guess I could look for it.
I think Tony Stark in the Iron Man movies is about perfect for a portrayal of a superhero for me. He's throughly unconventional and flawed as well as just being amusing to watch. _________________

Plus he fight crime in a portable toilet.
Yes, Tony Stark (At least in the recent movies) is a very likable character (for me)
If I want to see perfect I'll watch superman, or. . . no wait perfect is boring, why would I watch that? _________________ A normal day for sheena. . .

I meant perfect as in hitting all the right buttons for me, not the character being actually perfect.
Superman is remarkably dull. _________________

I knew you meant for you
I was just trying to say perfect characters are boring characters. _________________ A normal day for sheena. . .

I agree. They are.
Though the next Superman movie might be good with the talent involved. _________________

We'll see. I just hope we see a more flawed man of steel. _________________ A normal day for sheena. . .

Well, this coming Superman has Zack Snyder as director, Christopher Nolan as producer and David Goyer (writer for The Dark Knight) as writer. So we might get just that. _________________

Rather epic combination.
The original Punisher film, from the eighties, is a LOT better than the new one. Cheesey ninja enemies aside.
One of the final scenes is brilliant, where Castle gives the son of a mob boss he just killed his gun, gets to his knees and puts the barrel on his forehead, looking the kid straight in the eye.
...Epic stuff. _________________

Sounds pretty epic, I might watch it even though I try not to watch anything predating 1990 _________________ A normal day for sheena. . .
