I haven't had a chance to watch X-Men or Blade yet. Thankfully G4 will be teaming up with Marvel Animation to premeire (SP?) all 4 Marvel Anime July 29th, so I'm kinda saved there.

I don't want to start watching Summer till I'm done with spring. I'm going to go to the spring topic and rant about the shows I've seen now. (I'm only about halfway done too. . .)

Heh. Understandable.

And yeah, I heard those anime were showing on G4. Not sure I'll watch them there. Maybe. It is always good to see anime on TV.

Well it cuts a good 3-4 hours out of my mad scramble to catch up. . . Have you finished Gosick yet? You need to. I was moved to tears man, I had to pause to collect myself.

No. That's the one thing I have hanging over my head really. Still have like ten episodes sitting on my hard drive...

Yay! Im now caught up to the spring stuff. That said this is what my current list looks like.

Nichijou
Hanasaku Iroha
Tiger and Bunny
Steins;Gate
Mawaru Penguindrum
Blood-C
Yuru Yuri
Ikou Meiro no Croisee (maybe)
Dantalian no Shoka
Sacred Seven
Kamisama no Memo-Chou
Kamisama Dolls
Manyuu Hikenchou (Maybe)

This is almost as bad as spring. I need to start watching shows to see if I can drop something. I might not even watch Manyuu. The premise of that show is ridiculus. I might not watch Ikou either I'm gonna give it a try because of Gosick.

I decided to drop Ikoku Meiro. Its a nice show and I do see charm in it, but parts of the first 2 episodes dragged for me and I'm just barely intrested in watching more.

I understand. It is kind of slow.

It does look a lot like Gosick though...

It really does.

I think kami-sama no memo chou will be this seasons Gosick. Even if most of the premise is different.

It still seems pretty similar. I mean it's a detective show about a kind of normal dude and a kind of socially outcast genius pie working together to solve mysteries. It's pretty much the same exact premise. It's just a different setting and there's a larger supporting cast.

All those Neets. I'm technically a NEET right now. I think I have a job interview in a few days though. . .

I watched just a little bit of anime yesterday. Mostly focused on new premiers.

Itsuka Tenma no Kuru Usagi: This was a non-event for me. It was just kind of bland. It had one moment that was really brilliantly done and felt kind of like a more brutal version of the opening sequence of Kore wa Zombie Desu Ka?, but beyond that, everything just seemed a little flat. That includes the art. I don't really know, but the show just looks weird. Weird angles are used and the backgrounds look kind of strange. It might work if the characters were more detailed, but no...

R-15: I had assumed this one was going to be completely disposable. I ended up liking it a lot more than I thought I would. It really has a lot of attractive character designs. The main character is a likable kid too. The humor is a little derivative, but not bad. The censoring is annoying as hell, but that's never been a deal breaker for me. This had looked like one of the most disposable shows on my list, but heck, I just might give it anothe episode.

Dantalian no Shoka: Gainax is most famous for their original series. I've never really thought they were anything super special when it came to adaptions. I think I'll give credit to strong source material than, because this show is awesome. It's the third show of the season to strongly recall Gosick to mind (was that show super popular or something?). Dalian basically is a dark haired Victorique (though she might be more tsundere and less kuudere... I can't tell yet). She also, taking a page from Index, has magic books inside of her. Huey, the lead seems like a pretty cool, likable dude. No complaints there. The action was great. This really looks to be another winner.

Baka Test season 2: Yay. Sexy Hideyoshi is sexy. He was underused here though. I actually watched the first two episodes, and he hardly got a moment to shine in either. Hide your most popular character, Baka Test? I is confused. Still, the humor is great, the characters are lovable and everything that made me fall in love Baka Test is back. Is Aiko a main character now? If so, that's awesome.

I also watched just a few second episodes.

Blade: Eh... it was just alright. Maybe if I was a fan of this character, it would be better. I don't know. I think I might drop. There are better shows this season.

Ro Kyu Bu: Halfway through this episode I was positive I'd be dropping it. But the end of the episode was just great dramatic writing. The pies are adorable too. I want to like this show less than I do, if that makes any sense. I do like it though. So I"m in until I stop...

Ikou Meiro no Croiseé: This might be the most adorable pie of the season. She is just pure cuteness. It is her and her alone that carries this show. Well, her and the lush artwork, I suppose. but it's mostly her. There's something strangely magical about watching her interact with all the new things around her. Nothing ever seems to happen in this show, but for me it seems to fly by. For that reason, I'm in for more.

Twin Angel: I have the exact opposite problem as I do with Ro Kyu Bu with this one. I want to like it more than I do. It's a magical girl anime about two cute ambiguously lesbian best friends fighting some evil pie's robots with their magical powers. It should be more immediate than it is. That's not to say I don't like it. I do. There are just lots of shows this season I like more. I'll hold on a little longer... but it is in a little danger of being dropped.

Will watch the rest of the second round tonight.

Okay, I've now completed round 2 of summer and gone further with round 3. Tonight I plan to catch up on the other stuff (Nichijou, Steins;Gate, PreCure... maybe even Gosick if I can get to it...).

But here's what I thought of the Summer stuff.

Sacred Seven: This show looks beautiful. It's also Sunrise... But yeah, I'm afraid I'll be dropping it. It's just not that compelling to me. I mean, it's watchable, just nothing has that real special quality to it that makes me love it. I don't know. This could turn out to be awesome. Right now it just seems kind of mediocre. And next to all the awesome stuff this season, that won't cut it.

Usagi Drop: This show really works. I have every reason to find this unimaginably dull. It's a show about some dude taking care of a little girl. It's just charming though. I think a lot of it is that this girl Rin is so cute and the protagonist is just such a good person. I can't help but root for them and become invested in their troubles. That ends up making it all just work for me. Definitely holding on for this one.

Idolmaster: This is another one I was kind of hoping for an excuse to drop it. I just can't after this episode. This is a popular franchise, and really I can see why. It's all done well, the characters, as damn many as there are, are all vibrant and bounce off each other well. It all makes the show thoroughly entertaining, and well, I want to watch more. Can't help it.

R-15: It's trashy and censored to hell. Again, I should drop, but this one has a lot going for it. I think part of it might just be that for once I kind of identify with the kid who is the protagonist. He's a pervert who writes erotic stuff. That's great. He's likable and kind of fun to watch as he interacts with all the sexy chicks that fill out the rest of the cast. There's also a tsundere lesbian, a kind of trappy male friend, a super busty sadist girl and a lot more. It's just an appealing cast and it's pretty funny. I'm willing to overlook the censorship. For now, at least...

Kamisama no Memo-chou: Yay. This show is exciting. I don't really know what to say about it. Still recalls Gosick. Alice is still awesome. Smartly written and fun to watch.

Kamisama Dolls: This show is just very exciting and intriguing. I'm really liking the characters too. Utao is the most immediate, being a damn cute pie. I like the love interest too, even if her personality is a little bland. Her design is just eye catching. I also like the protagonist, though I'm a little less sure why since he is also just a fairly normal dude. Maybe it's because he's believable as a normal dude when there's clearly a lot of bizarre dark stuff hidden in his past. It makes an interesting dichotomy. After three episodes, this is becoming a real stand out for the season.

Mawaru Penguindrum: Aww... penguins! So cute. Main guys stalk normal-ish cute girl. Then they find out something surprising. She's a completely insane stalker herself. This show is just wacky and I love every second of it. Seriously. I have no clue where it's all headed, but I am looking forward to taking this ride.

Blood-C: You know, there really is a disconnect with this show. It's still hard to believe Saya's moe side and her badass side are the same character. I like both sides though. If it's just a moe girl's cute high school antics for 15 minutes and a badass sword fighting girl in a flat out awesome fight sequence with some awesome monster for the remaining seven, I'm actually fine with that. The art is fantastic and it's all just really appealing.

Ikou Meiro no Croiseé episode 3: Yune is pie. She is cute. She is from Japan. She is in France. Absolutely nothing happens. I don't care. It's cute as hell. (with the new characters coming into the fold, it looks like it might find a plot soon though).

There really are a lot of pies this season. I think I'll call it the season of the cute pie. Who will turn out to be my favorite? I'm not entirely sure at this point. We have a lot of contenders... The Ro-Kyu-Bu girl's basketball team? Utao from Kamisama Dolls? Yune from Ikou Meiro no Croiseé? Alice from Kamisama no Memou-chou? Dalian from Datalian no Shoka? Rin from Usagi Drop? The three or four pie idols in Idolmaster? Hell... even the Yuru Yuri girls might count depending on your definitions...

So many adorable pies...
