I'm kind of excited that this busy spring season is almost coming to an end. It's a lot of work keeping up with it. Less shows this summer which is good.

My thoughts on the lineup:

Appleseed XIII: I think this show has been on like two charts already. It's finally coming out. I'll watch it.

Inumarudashi: not so interested.

Double-J: This sounds like my sort of show.

Blade: An anime about a badass Black dude. Not too many of those. I've never seen the Blade movies and don't know much about the character, but I'll give it a shot. Marvel/Madhouse has gotten progressively better with each new anime after all.

Uta no Prince-sama: I shouldn't have to say anything here. Not my thing.

Natsume Yuujin Chou-sama: Says it's a third series. Haven't seen the first two.

Yuru Yuri: The single show I'm most looking forward to. It's licensed in a yuri magazine and has the word yuri in its title. Hehe. Fun.

Kamisama Dolls: I can't really tell from just this. Guess I'll try it.

Morita-san wa Mukuchi: This sounds potentially cute. I love 4-koma shows usually.

Nyanpire the Animation: I wouldn't be surprised if this turned out to be the most awesome thing of the season. I have no real expectations though.

Usagi Drop: Eh, I've liked josei before. I'll at least try it.

No. 6: This sounds like something I'll ultimately end up skipping.

The Idolm@ster: I tried the last time they tried to make a series based on this property (which was a mecha/sc-fi thing). It was kind of average and I ultimately dropped it. This might be better. I'll try it.

Blood-C: All I can say is: Oh, hell yes.

Mayo Chiki: I like reverse traps, I suppose though not as much as the regular variety. It gets a chance

R-15: Huh? Talk about a premise... Color me intrigued if nothing else.

Dantalian no Shoka: Not really sure what to say here. It's Gainax, so there's a chance it might blow up into something big. I'll watch.

Ro-Kyu-Bu!: pies playing basketball? Worth a look, I suppose.

Kami-sama no Memou-chou: Is it just me or does this sound like a modern day version of Gosick? Actually that sounds kind of awesome now that I think about it...

Mawaru Penguindrum: Not a lot to go on here. I like female main characters though.

Sacred Seven: Sunrise. They know what they're doing. Will watch.

BakaTest 2: Sexy Hideyoshi is sexy.

Ikoku Meiro no Croisée: eh. could be good. could be boring. Will have to see.

Itsuka Tenma no Kuro-Usagi: Another I'm unsure of. Female vampires are fun. I'll try it.

Nekogami Yaoyorozu: This sounds potentially fun. We'll see.

Manyuu Hikenchou: I already expressed my excitement for this one.

NuraMago 2: Didn't see the first one.

Kaitou Tenshi Twin Angel: This looks really cute. Might be fun.

On second look, it looks like I might still have a lot of shows to watch...

Still, looks like a fun set of shows.

It's all good.

Blade hunts vampires, so it might make a good comparison to Blood-C.

Heh. I have heard that he fights vampires. That's really all that i know. Unlike X-Men and Iron Man, this is a Marvel property I don't really know so well.

But you're right, the vampire thing should make it interesting to see.

Blood-C just looks awesome.

I'll likely check out Blade, though I haven't seen the movie either.

Blood-C, maybe.

BakaTest2, agree; Sexy Hideyoshi is back!

Higurashi no Naki Koro no Kira, of course!

Hellsing Ultimate, finally!

Carnival Phantasm, sure, why not?

Sora no Otoshimono: Tokeijikake no Angeloid, yes! I've been waiting for this.

Of course, considering what I'm in the middle of right now, I don't think I'll be able to see all the shows.

I was only able to get so far in the first series. It was rather cute. I just liked other shows more that season so I gave up on it.

I didn't include my thoughts on it in my first post there because it says the format in to be announced which makes me think it isn't going to be a full series but rather an OVA or something.;

I must say that is a pretty awsome line up but the one that caught my eye the most was Blood C because I am a very big CLAMP fan. Anything of theres (evept for Tubasa) is awsome. Hakuouki Hekketsu-roku also looks pretty cool. Heart no Kuni no Alice: Wonderful Wonder World might be alright too by the looks of it.

There were even more this current season. It's really difficult keeping up with them, but they're all pretty good.

I used to have an account there, but I haven't updated it in well over a year.

The summer anime season is here. I just spent several hours watching nothing but premier episodes. A few words about each of them:

I'll start with three shorter form series. I was actually kind of disappointed to learn Double-J, Morita-san wa Mukuchi and Nyanpire have only 3-5 minutes episodes. It's really hard to build substance is such a short amount of time, so I'm not sure I'll be following those three. Of the three though, Nyanpire seems like it has the potential to be the most fun in it's super cute absurdity, and the very bizarre ending sequence is worth seeing.

On to the full length stuff, starting with Marvel/Madhouse anime number 4, Blade. As I said before, I've never seen the Wesley Snipes movies or anything else featuring this character, so really this is my first introduction to the character. As such, I'm really not sure how this adaption stacks up. I can only judge it on it's face value. Doing that, what I see is kinda pretty badass. I mean there's a cool looking black dude slicing up vampires with a katana and other assorted weapons. I think this might be a premise hard to screw up. They made it better by including some sexy chick to help fight the vampires, it seems. It's far from very deep. Not knowing this character might be to my disadvantage, as I really don't see much character presented here. He's a badass who kills stuff and is out for revenge. It's a little one note. I kind of want him to be developed as a character, but at the same time I fear the show might expect us to already know him. Also, shouldn't vampires be harder to kill? One slash and they burst into flames? It seems almost kind of unfairly biased toward the human side this way. Additionally, the girl's father's actions made no sense: Your enemy is seemingly unarmed and you have a machine gun. Why in the hell do you charge the guy? It's just stupid. Despite my complaints, the coolness factor is still strong here and that alone is worth another episode, I suppose.

Ro-Kyu-Bu!: This is a good season if you like pies. This show is best of all for pie fans, but it seems most everything has at least one pie this season. pies play basketball here. I've never really been one for sports anime, but I am coming off of thoroughly enjoying Softenni last season. This first episode wasn't as funny or interesting as a typical Softenni episode (though that said, the first episode of Softenni wasn't as funny as a typical Softenni episode). The pies are kind of one note at this point and haven't really come out as characters. The lead seems a reasonable enough guy, if he really doesn't stand out. Also, where I was completely indifferent to tennis, I just really don't care for basketball. I find it tedious to watch and I always hated playing it as a kid in school. Still, there is some promise here. And there are pies. There is a good chance I'll drop this, but who knows. Maybe it will have more staying power than I think...

Sacred Seven: A new Sunrise original anime. Always a good sign. Sacred Seven's first episode didn't quite scream Code Geass, Mai-HiME, Cowboy Bebop or even Tiger & Bunny to me though. That's not to say it can't recover. I haven't seen any reason to like the lead so far, but his powers are cool. It felt a little rushed and cluttered, and everything feels somehow distanced so far, but that doesn't leave me disheartened either. The action is good. The animation is great. The character designs are pretty good. If it slows down a little, this could really be something.

Idolmaster: This was actually not that bad. The faux documentary thing was actually a really good way to introduce so many characters all at once. Still, as many as there are, they all did come across as a little one note. I really do like some of the character designs though. The sleepy blonde girl, the air-headed adult, the really serious one, the secretive one, the animal lover and the tomboy all stuck out immediately. This might have too many characters, and really the first episode didn't even try to show off any plot. It's kind of hard to tell what this series is about yet. For that reason, I can't really tell how I'll like it. Still, I'll definitely give it a shot. Oh, and there are pies. pie twins to be exact (and probably some of the other girls are pies too; it's hard to tell).

Ikou Meiro no Croisée: This is from the illustrator of Gosick. You can tell. The main character looks kind of strangely like the Japanese equivalent of Victorique. That's to say she's a doll-like pie; just swap out gothic-lolita for a traditional Japanese attire. But where Goscik was a detective/mystery anime... this really isn't. No, this is pure slice of life period piece. It's 18th century France. Japanese pie leaves Japan and lives with a metal worker and his grandfather. There isn't a lot of plot here. The main reason to watch is because the pie is so cute. That and the quite good art and animation. At least that's what the first episode told me. But that's enough for me. I still enjoyed it. I'll be watching more for sure.

Mayo Chiki: This is the first thing I watched and ultimately concluded right away I wasn't going to be giving it another shot. That said, it's not horrible. In fact, I really like the character designs, and some of the humor was pretty good. I just really like the main character. He doesn't connect with me. I'm not the type who really ever even has to relate to the main character in a show, so this is kind of weird to me. Just something about this guy really doesn't click with me that I don't really want to watch him. I don't know what it is. I won't tell other people not to watch this, as this is probably just a weird thing with me. But yeah, this is a skip for me.

Usagi Drop: Now here we have a main character who is immediately likable. This is just a good guy. My overall impressions on what I've seen of shows featured on the Noitamina block have been mixed. I've adored some of them like Kuragehime, while I've dropped a lot of others prematurely. This is based on a Josei manga. I typically like more escapist stories and this seems so completely grounded in realism. That said, I enjoyed it. The main character just really seems like a good guy and the pie who is the other main character is really cute and seems like a fun character too. This left me very optimistic. I kind of know that this is the exact sort of show I can never allow myself to fall behind on or I'll drop it, but I'm going to hope that doesn't happen.

Kaitou Tenshi Twin Angel: This is one of those shows that absolutely no one will be talking about in the west but might actually be popular in Japan. It's a magical girl anime about two magical girls who use their magic (magic punches and magic arrows) to beat up robots. It is hopelessly and I think purposely cliched. The fanservice is kind of distracting considering the plot seems to lacks anymore complexity than an average PreCure episode so far. I can kind of see why this will be tossed aside inevitably by cynics. I'm personally willing to give it another shot. The girls are cute, the animation is pretty good for this sort of thing, and the fighting was actually kind of cool.

Kamisama no Memo-chou: I said before that the premise of this kind of reminded me of Gosick. It still kind of does. We have a super genius kuudere pie detective interacting with a down to earth protagonist and solving mysteries. Instead of fictional European country in the Victorian age, we have modern Japan. Beyond that, we also have a much larger supporting cast then in Gosick. I don't really like too many of these supporting characters so far (aside from the sexy ramen shop owner), but I can ignore that and maybe they'll grow on me. The core concept works here just as it did in Gosick. Having a full hour for the episode helped establish it even more. This was really one of the best premieres I saw today. I didn't just see promise here, I was interested and entertained by what was presented to me. I am definitely in for this one. And I need to finish Gosick...

Kamisama Dolls: Another show that's title starts with Kamisama and another very strong premiere. The lead is likable. His love interest is amazingly hot (thanks in part to her very generous chest). His pie sister is adorable and badass when she controls her strange doll thing. The episode presented a lot of intrigue and a small bit of kind of cool action. It was really pretty exciting and I'm definitely in for more.

Mawaru Penguin Drum: Wow... This show. A roller coaster of emotions and responses. It's sad, it's happy, it's funny, it's downright bizarre. It's all really quite brilliant. I don't even want to say a lot because this is one show I want people to watch. It's just so quirky and I really don't even know what it's going to be yet. It has cute little penguins in it though and one of the most surreal sequences I've ever seen in an anime. This is how you do a premier episode right.

Blood-C: For the third time, I join a black haired girl named Saya as she slices through monsters with a badass sword. Blood: The Last Vampire was a high style, low substance film that I liked even if it didn't stay with me long. Blood+ was a thoroughly engrossing 52 episode anime series with some very memorable characters and cool action. This looks to be pretty good as well. This Saya is a little different from the last two though. She's moe moe. Seriously. When she isn't fighting monsters and in serious mode, we have a fairly busty, twin-tailed clumsy, kind of air-headed meganekko. I personally love this character design. Overall, actually. I think CLAMP did a great job designing the female characters for this (the males aren't terrible, just not as memorable). Saya's sexy teacher, her sexy, serious friend and the two really cute twins in her class all have memorable designs. The fight was really pure awesome too. My hopes for this are very high.

Yuru Yuri: And I saved what I was most excited about for last. I was sure I'd be disappointed. And while it wasn't the best of the premieres I watched, I wasn't really. This was still really good. I read some of the Yuru Yuri manga years ago. It's an adorable little yuri-flavored 4-Koma series. This turned out as a really pretty good adaptation. It's your basic 4-Koma type anime like Lucky Star, focusing on four school friends in comedic situations, and it's pretty funny. Funnier than A-Channel from last season. The characters are more immediate than that show's cast too. But making everything better, pretty much all four of them seem to be lesbians (except arguably the main character, oddly enough). Also, they're first year middle school, so I think that makes them pies. So yeah, if you like Lucky Star, yuri and pies, watch this and you just might like it.
