OK, I saw this today, and it's honestly the best film I have seen for a LONG time!

Anyone else seen it?

Nope haven't seen it.

It does seem to be getting pretty good reception though; might be worth looking into.

Cool.

Doesn't seem like the sort of movie I'd go see in the theaters really though.

Speaking as someone who studied Film Language, Cinematography, Editing and the like for nearly two years, I can say it's pretty well near perfect on paper.

Soundtrack is very fitting, the actors do very well, it's believable, engaging and very emotive.

I laughed out loud, and I nearly cried. It's a slow, solidly paced film, but it's good at building tension.

All in all, I'd compare it to American Psycho in terms of feel.

For me, it was just a good film!

I'm sure it's a good movie. But generally it's only a specific type of movie I end up going to see in theaters. Generally director films and special effects heavy films.

I'll still probably see it. But just months from now, rented on DVD.

Fair enough mate!

I think it's gonna be a favourite of mine.

Heh. Well, I'll keep that in mind. Not too much to get me super excited for it though, as I've never been too big a Matthew McConaughey fan and there aren't really many other names I recognize associated with the film.

Ah well. Razz

I think one of the reasons I liked it so much was that I knew none of the names. I had no expectations.

True. That can certainly make a film good, going in with no expectations and really loving it.

Though with me, going out to see a movie is a more planned thing usually. And it's usually films from directors (I don't care as much about the actors for the most part) I recognize that I go see.

Well, my word may not hold much weight, seeing as our likes are so different, but I think the director here excelled.

No, you're word has weight. I've gone from having no interest in seeing the film to wanting to rent it based solely on your enthusiasm for it.

And yeah, just because this Brad Furman guy doesn't even have a wikipedia page yet doesn't mean it isn't possible he'll be regarded as a brilliant director in the future.
