White Hill is a tavern and inn located in the forests at the border of the Holy Romian Empire. The outskirts have a stronger population of minorities, such as Elves, Dwarves, and Halflings compared to the Human-centered cities of the Empire, so a wide variety of people can be found at White Hill. Sometimes people can have very interesting relationships at White Hill.

The races that can be played:

Human: The majority of the Holy Romian Empire. Legal citizens have no magic as it is outlawed in Romia.

High Elf: Taller, pointer-eared humanoid with a strong command of magic. Unlikely to be in Romia or White Hill because of the magic ban, but you never know...

Wood Elf: Like the High Elf but shorter and more muscular. Much more common around Romia's border even if they practice a heretical religion.

Dwarf: Muscular, stocky humanoids shorter than most adult Humans. Men may or may not have beards. Women are very buxom.

Halfling: They look just like Human children of 10 to 12 years, even in middle age.

Here is the requisite sample character...

Name: Priss

Sex: Female

Race: Human

Birthday: 28 June

Height: 171 cm

Weight: 58 kg

Eyes: Blue

Hair: Pink

Hobby: Knife-throwing

Favorite food: Roasted boar, mead

Least favorite food: Extremely rich food

Likes: Gambling, robbing corrupt people, feasting

Dislikes: Poverty, stratification, betrayal

Appearance: Priss is athletic and well-muscled. Her hair hangs down in unruly spikes. Her left arm is decorated with jagged, serpentine black tattoos. Her skin is darkened from being out in the open so often, and her bust is prominent and firm. She wears a tattered brown cloak over light leather armor. Carries an iron cudgel named "She-Bear".

Personality: Priss is a bandit and thief. She robs people she deems corrupt (which sometimes means "anyone rich even if they are kind"). Outside of her "job" Priss is easygoing and bawdy, happy to indulge in food, drink, singing, or sex. Priss is very rough and cares little for rules besides her own code of honor, but will be loyal if befriended. She likes to make bets on how well she can throw a dagger at a target.

This sounds awesome. I'm currently drawing a blank when it comes to coming up with a character though. I think I'll give it some thought and come up with something later today.

Thank you. I know you will do something good. This could be the first step of something great.

I'll be making a character soon!

A sexy, gothic, badass, High Elf...

I tried yesterday, but I just ended up recreating Charlotta...

That's the problem I'm mainly having. Every time I try and come up with a character in my mind, I take a step back and notice she's far too similar to someone from A Light Forgotten.

Maybe we should wait until Phil has a real computer again.

I might end up with a female dwarf or something... A Light Forgotten doesn't have anything like that...

Could be something to consider. A Light Forgotten does not seem to have a really diverse amount of races like some fantasy stories.

Dwarf girl might be hot.

Will she be Scottish and have a battleaxe?

Battleaxe maybe. Scottish, probably not.

I purposely kept the races limited. I wanted to keep it a human story for the most part, with essentially just one human race, a subset of whom faces discrimination based on something that occurs at random upon birth. The only other intelligent races beside the humans being beings with obviously far superior abilities half of whom are labeled monsters for it while the other half are worshiped as living gods. I don't know exactly why I settled on that, but I remember I decided quite early on that there'd be no elves or anything like that in the story.

It does keep things simple and easy to remember.

Yeah. I rather think elves and stuff would have just over complicated it. The story is complicated enough as it is...
