My beleifs are that we have a higher power. He is a sadist and likes to watch us all suffer. I wish I was a video game charector so that I could kill him and that why RPG's are my god and I pray to them for the power to defeat evil.

Before you say anything the part about video games is only a half troll, I don't pray to them. If I have anything like a mass just playing them is enough.

I was raised Jewish however, even if I don't really follow its principals I still some what consider myself Jewish. (I don't eat bacon, no matter how delicious it is. Thats my sacrifice)

K well this thread was not at all what I thought it was going to be so my belifes here they are: I dont have any. Religion in my opinion is just another reason for people to fight, argue, and in extreem instences kill one another. Life is complicated enough with out worrying about that kind of thing. At leas that is the way I see it. I am happy with out it in my life. I think that if you live a good life, if you are kind to people, if you are honest that if there is an after life you will be rewarded no matter what your faith. A friend of mine once said to me: No one says that you have to have a religion but I find it hard to belive that you dont belive in anything. This was my responce: Your wrong I do belive in somthing. This is what I belive. I belive that everyone else can belive whatever they want to belive so long as they dont preach it to me. I like the lack of complication.

That's a good outlook to have, I think.

I kind of go back between seeing god as a malevolent force who enjoys watching us suffer for entertainment, as one who doesn't give a shit about us, or just doesn't exist, period.

One thing's for certain, I cannot (and will not) bring myself back to organized religion. Christianity lied to me and Islam was going to send me to be used as a suicide bomber.

And before anyone starts fighting me over this, just remember that you have no idea what my life's been like before we finally moved to our current location (and even then).

Meh... fine, Rahkshi gets a point.

When actually discussing god however, the thing that my stepfather likes to point out is that god is actual a living, breathing alien who somehow created what is now our solar system. In some ways, it makes sense as it would explain why Mars has what seems to be water.

So yeah, if a god/goddess actually exists, I would think of him/her as an alien, malevolent, careless, or whatever.

EDIT: Now that I actually ate and my head's a bit more clear, to answer your question, Rahkshi, I was unfortunate to be in the presence of a militant Islamist. As far as I could tell though, it probably wasn't the ones you hear on the news; of course that would mean that it would give the FBI an excuse to go spy on people in hopes of capturing this 'unknown' terrorist.

I digress however, that my hostility towards to religion has nothing with the things that it idealizes, but rather the people who have irreversibly corrupted the institutions to the point of what they preach is more or less moot because it is contrary to what happens today.

Institutionalizing anything often corrupts it.

Why can't we all pray that Kyon keeps Haruhi happy? As far as I can tell isn't she god. . .

This is real life stuff we're talking about, not some animated series that depicts such a force as an obnoxious reality warper.

Yep.

If I was to ever formally join a religion, it would probably be Haruhiism.

No pastafarianism for Wizard-sama?

Quite honestly if we were talking about fake-made-real-religion. I would probably be a huruhist. Damn all that baseball magic and time skips. yay.

What about paganism I hear thats fun and heretical. Lotsa sex too. . .

Pastafarianism is a close second.

I mean, if I was going to worship something, I'd want it to be something cool and interesting.

Sexy moe anime girls and flying monsters composed of spaghetti are much cooler and more interesting than the central figures in the more "legitimate" religions...
